Just do what my mate does on his motorbike and cover your plate with your foot, swing around and give the camera the finger whist mildly speeding :spoton:

heres some new cameras.. dunno if its been posted before but yea

When you see the stripes it means that there is a speed camera. The locations for these new cameras are listed below. The one in question is located at the bottom of a very steep hill. Of course it is illegal for a radar or mobile speed camera to be set up in these sort of positions but its ok if its fixed.

There's one on Maroondah Hwy in Croydon between Croydon and Dorset Rds - a few hundred metres along from the bottom of the big hill.

Just a heads up on a new speed camera system they are testing

It's a cylindrical pole about 2m high with 3 Perspex stripes on it (I assume they hide cameras, one for each lane of the highway), and there's some matching sensors on the far side of the road in the gutter.

More details on how it works here if you're interested.

How long do you think those sensors will last once the general public figures out what they are. Being at ground level makes them an easy target.

The detectors are called TIRTLE's I think, stupid accronyms. They are a really accurate detection device, they replaced radar detection. Can be found on roads such as Dandy etc. They are what is pictured above. The casing was built to be vandal proof, its about 8 inch steel and glass lol.

The Hume uses loops in the road still I'm sure, no TIRTLE's there, but those cameras go from Craigieburn to Broadford, love watching NSW people speed then slam brakes on at each site. If we didn't get booked for speeding we would be booked for something else, at least some of the funding goes into road improvements. I consider it a road users tax.

I dont understand how the ones on the hume can be point to point ...

I've done a few trips and I sit on 130 inbetween and I've never been done.

Also, the photo system they use requires a flash to go off for the picture to even come out.. so that would mean every car that goes past has it's picture taken? But no flash goes off?

A lot of speed cameras use infrared flashes, you wont be able to see the flash but the camera will.
