im running my 15" sub off the factory amp, but am about to upgrade it to a big mono block. been reading the threads about using hi level inputs or doing the rca connection to icc circuit board mod. ill prol add the rca's to the icc.

question though: when I connected the sub speaker wire into the amp wiring connector I noticed that there are no rca's going into the factory amp, just wires.

if an aftermarket amp had hi level (speaker wire) inputs, would there be any detriment to using the factory wires that go into factory amp instead of adding rca's?

if so, anyone know which wires are the hi level inputs?

cheers

there is no rca plug into the factory amp but there is an RCA signal that runs in a coax cable with the harness and goes thru the power plug into the amp. best thing to do is unplug the factory amp and pinch the high level speaker signal from the rear speakers.

only prob with that is when you use a hi to low signal converter, the signal gets compressed, then amplified again, so quality goes down REAL fast.

that's why some who have used this method describe the sound as 'muddy'. if the amp has hi level signals coming in through the harness, then the signal should be purer, due to no signal converting. in theory anyway...
