efc - you can actually adjust the brightness level with the same switch you use when its dark.

Its the + and - buttons on the side of the instrument panel just to the right of the steering wheel.

When im on the highway during the day I run with my light on as well - and just hold the + button down for a few seconds until its at its full brightness...

Not to sure if you have tried this yet or not, but its worth mentioning just in case... considering you had not written it in your post, and well everyone else here is full of great ideas!

Are you serious? You didn't consider actaully changing the dimmer on it yet you ridicule everyone else??? :spit: I thought Smicky was being a smart-arse.

SMIC,

Screen is fine when the lights are off. Im thinking i may install a second light sensor that dims the screen at night but allows the daytime screen to remain on with the head lights on....

bout the only solution i can think of that avoids have to manual dim the screen at night with a dedicated switch or something similar

lol

Auto as in turn on when it's dark, or as in always on regardless? If the later there's a module under your dash that needs to be yanked out.
