My cousin was devastated, he has been a Ford man all his life and cant believe what happen to him and what ford are doing. I did call a dealer out west this arvo with a fake problem, and was told almost the same thing but that it could take up to 2 days instead of 5 and yes I do need to leave the car an no to a loan car for a few weeks also. Oh, and they kept my car for 5 days. Edited 25/08/09 01:21 PM by lowfutura

I did once ask someone if a proven flash voided warranty on the cars computer and was told yes. I guess its Fords way of cutting costs and trying to stay alive in these tough economical times but they wont be having to many repeat customers and to many cars sold if they dont fix up or rethink their policy on warranty approval procedures with the FGs. Ford are pack of cahnts! When my car was 18mths old, pictures were posted of my car with a wogcooler and plates in full view. I have a good friend who is the 2IC in service at a regional dealership. He called me to organise the replacement of the rear brake hose under recall. When he looked up my details, there was a red flag stating warranty to engine and driveline was void due to modifications! They got all this from a f*cking picture on the internet! Now I never had an issue with all of these components so I was lucky, but shows how much of scrooge this mob really is. What happens if you decide to bling up your standard cooler with some chrome paint? All this on a BA!Thank god my warranty is finished!

As much as we like to bag Fraud put yourself in their shoes, it really makes pretty good sense if you're being honest with yourself. The guys being shafted by having to wait - THEY are the ones that deserve to have the sh*ts. Guest XR09 Guests Posted 26/08/09 06:07 AM Share Posted 26/08/09 06:07 AM Most bike companies have been doing this for the last ten years, I know because I have been the poor sap in the middle abused by both sides. Yet the dealer always makes the poor punter buy these new cans ( that without a power comander give you more noise, big flat spots and less power) steering damper, and power comander etc.I had to knock back so many KX250 and 450's that had literally lunched themselves. Why? because they could not show proof that they had kept up to schedule on oi/filterl replacement and valve adjustment.Sucks big time I know. But lay off the poor service managers. He wants your work, he would love to pass it and have an easy happy day. He is paid by how well he runs that shop. truly. base salary for a service manager sucks, it's all incentive pay now. Yep fords to blame......... or is it? It does state quite clearly that you touch the car and they wipe thier hands of it.They like the rest of the worlds auto industry is going down the gurgler and are doing every thing they can to stay in buis. Modifications, etc shouldn't be fixed under warranty, etc. But there is definatly a few grey areas, such as knocking back a diff leak because the car has been lowered, despite it being known as a common fault. It goes both ways and manufacturers often use modifications as an excuse to save money repairing manufacturing faults. But Ford's attitude of stuff the customer, they can wait while we stuff around with pictures and no loan car is inexcusable. Their lack of proper dealership guidelines and comunication is also a big problem, and for the sake of saving a few dollars in warranty claims, they are loosing customers.Money is not the only reason to knock back warranty work. The other is to reduce their warranty percentages, etc for industry stats., making models look better than they actualy are.I remember an interview with a Expensive Daewoo exec in Wheels a few years back where they admited that it is often more cost effecient to release a car with known defects/problems then wrooy about fixing them as warranty claims. The majority of customers wouldn't have a clue what sounds were wrong or right in the cars, or they just accept any faults and don't care because they treat their car like crap anyway. He said their research showed that less than 10% of their customers were fussy enough to pick most things up, therefore it's much more efficient to only have to make good 10% of the cars, rather than 100%. Even when official recalls are issued, less than 50% come back on most occasions.Ford just have to understand that they need to look after their customers, and dealerships are a big part of that. If a car is going to take more than a day to repair, a loan car must be supplied. If they have to be booked, then book the car in at the same time. If it's an emergency repair, give the customer one of the used cars off the lot (as most other manufacturers do).
