The car makes 253rwkw's.The Cars been running fine until just recently. The problem is that you can drive the car normally all day, and no problems, but give it a boot and as it starts to take off, it feels like it losses all power, starts shuddering gives no accelerator response at all, but give it a second, tap the accelerator a few times and she comes good again. Now I know the first thing most people will say is, change the coils. Been there done that, several times, replaced plugs several times as well. Sinclair Ford said that they can't find a problem, my local mechanic gave up, so I took it to Springwood Car Care today. The Car spent half the day on the dyno only to be told that it was the plugs, so he changed them and said it was fine. I drove it home and the same old problem is still there. Now I'll ring the mechanic in the morning but any help from you guys out there would be good, as this thing is pissing me off and hurting my pocket at the same time. Thanks GuysP.S. This is my first post, so please be gentle.

bigmick New Member 7 Member For: 16y 10m 3d Posted 04/08/09 08:52 AM Author Share Posted 04/08/09 08:52 AM Ok, just a quick update. Well today I took the car back to Springwood Car Care, they checked a few things plugged it up to a computer and it came back with a wastegate error. The guys up there tried to explain to me something about when it reaches a certain boost level the computer drops a couple of cylinders for around 5-10 seconds to help protect the car. His suggestion was to get it custom tuned, change the fuel pump and injectors as well as wastegate. Now while I know a bit about cars, I don't know a great deal about turbos. So my question to everyone out there, does this sound real or are they having a lend of me?P.S.The car has never been tuned before and pretty much is stock standard under the bonnetThanks

Did they put a flow guage on it whilst on the dyno. If someone has put an aftermarket pump on it it could have a split hose in the tank. Or it could simply be the pump giving up. Surely that would have checked if the fuel is up to scratch when it comes on boost right?

So replace the wastegate actuator and it should be fine. No need for a full blown fuel system upgrade and custom tune.... unless of course you would like it to perfrom like it should.
