hey guys just wanted some opinions, im looking at a Late 06 BF XR6T White, 6sp auto, No options (premo sound, leather, sunroof etc) 67xxxk's, lowered, 18's. from lansale holden. Condition is good BUT my only concern is the boot doesn't sit flush, its not overly huge but when you look at it from the side theres a bigger than normal gap (fairly decent size) im more concerned it may have been in a low speed collision up the rear but the salesman assures me its not on revs and as far as he knows has never been in an accident. Also the rubber around the doors looks to have been re-nickied or glued. Car is $25,888 but they've offered to pay my current loan out ($16xxx) and start me on a fresh finance for 24k ....... is it worth it or should I hold out for a better car???

gotta go cheers

If in doubt mate dont do it as the odds are if youre happy with it now you never will be. And also will be very hard to sell when the time comes.

my 2 cents.

Goodluck with whatever you decide.

have a look at the sill moulds...if its been it a more than a bump accident it will have vice marks on the lip of the sill moulds in four points...just behind the front wheels and just in front of the rear wheels....This is the point where a car is held and pulled straight if anything is bent in an accident...Look there first......

REVS will only show a write-off won't it? There's never any recording of repaired damage...the dealer would (should) know that.

If you're happy with the car then just make the repairs to the boot a condition of the sale. And squeeze them a bit on the price, depending on the condition of your trade there's nothing real special in those figures.

I would push him lower than $25k... there are plenty of other turbos for sale mate, and if you look hard enough and you are patient, you will find one that's been babied and loved from the very first km.

... I would walk away from this one.

Thanks for the advice guys :dontknow: ... I've thought hard and deep about it and realise I am being impatient lol

Decided instead to wait till the weddings over (Late next year) and just buy a FG XR6T .... hopefully by then the 08 models will have dropped and I know I'll be much much happier with it ....

cheers dudes and dudettes

That could be a tell tale sign of an ex chaser...usually its the driver side of the boot lid that's sits a bit higher...as this where they place the aerial...if you look at the hinge under the boot it looks like the nuts have been tampered with...I have noticed this with the majority of ex chasers...

Late 06 BF Mark II xr6t with same kms you should get direct from Fowles Auctions in Sydney for aroud the 19K realistically speaking...maybe even less depending on the day...

Actually you could probabaly get a mid 07 for that money...

bit steep for the overall condition of the car. I paid approx the same for a dec 06 with premium sound and 34,xxx kms.

Have you had it RACV chekced (or by a similar company), they are pretty good at picking up previous accidents.

Autions are always cheaper but there is always the level of risk that comes with buying at auctions including the cost or rwc, rego etc (dotn thik it comes with one in auctions in melb).

if your in no rush like you said a fg xr6t would be sweet

Having just gone through a purchase about 2 months ago of a 04' BA XR6T, if you have bad feeling about it, just walk away cos you'll have to live with it for the rest of time you have the car if you go through with the sale. As you say, one good thing about cars is that they get cheaper with time (for the what you are looking for today). Me, am secretly hoping my BA will get collectors item cult status but somehow doubt that LOL.

I just sold my xrt turbo ute after having it just two months. Lost about 4 grand. I would keep looking as the others have suggested. Its a buyers market for sure.
