Panda Eyes flame magnet Gold Donating Members 5,674 Member For: 16y 9m 13d Gender: Male Location: adelaide hills- 'race air' central Posted 01/08/09 03:45 AM Share Posted 01/08/09 03:45 AM hey guysjust about to start the audio/ video set up in my ba.have amps etc on order, but thought id start with the sub.tried the jbl 8" in the factory location, but it didnt make that much difference, so have decided to do it properly....bought a sony xplod 15" sub- 450wrms. bought a custom moulded fibreglass box for the side of the boot off ebay last year- in grey carpet to match the boot carpet.thought just for $hits and giggles id run the big speaker wire over to the factory amp and ive got to say im a bit surprise at how much it pumps. im led to believe the factory amp runs 70wrms and it realy gets the big 15 moving- and ill be running it from a 600wrms monoblock! something tells me ill have the gains down pretty low...anyway- you boys with the premo sound- dont just discount the factory amp- get a big sub behind it- at least 12"- in a good box, replace all speakers with aftermarket ones- 6.5" splits work well- spray some sound deadener on the inside of the door skins in the front- and you have a not bad sounding system, especially if you dont want to spend much coin.enjoy! Then I bought an alpine mono block, and shortly after the sub's voice coil burned out (probably because the tock amp at 100% was clipping heaps).Running a new 12" xplod sub now at 25% bass and it does the job.
