I want to put some better oil in my FGxr6turbo. Just wondering if the motor is too young at 5000k. I have read all the threads regarding oil quality & thickness etc. I dont want to change the oil if needs a few more k's on the clock . any advise would be appreciated :beerchug:

Thanks Tab, I just remember reading something like, letting the motor bed in properly before changing oil. I presume that 5000ks is bedded in enough. I will get it done next week.

It will depend on how you ran it in as well, but sooner rather than later would be a good idea.

Also, while you're at it, remove and clean the turbo oil supply screen for good measure.

im doing engine and diff tomorrow and the gear box when I get a short throw shifter. Just dont go fully synthetic apparently until the engine is about 20000k old.

As for the turbo oil supply screen, some pointers would be fantastic Phantmxr6.

20000k's till fully synthetic that seems like alot.. oil screen where the oil line for your turbo comes out of the block on the passenger side under the intake there is a tiny filter in there :bangcomputer:

Thanks for that valuable info :bangcomputer: I will make sure the turbo oil filter is checked too.. I cant remember the oil brand, but it was mentioned in earlier threads. I will buy the best oil that I can afford. I want my motor to be happy :roflmbo:

20000kms till you use synthetic is entirely up to you, but in my opinion you don't need to wait that long.

Just a hint with your gearbox oil and shifter change. I did the same thing with mine. Removed the standard shifter and fitted a Mal Wood unit.

Easiest way to change the oil is drain it from the drain plug and then just refill from the big hole you will have on the top of the box when you do the shifter change.

Another good thing would be to use 4L instead of the recommended 3.8L in the manual. The extra 200ml will calm the rollover noise down quite a bit.

As for the turbo oil supply screen, I can't get the link to work for me at the moment, but I'm sure it will point out the right details.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the advice. :spoton: I just picked up some Nulon 15-40 and will just get them to dump in 10-40 at the 15000k service. The everyday nulon is also on special at SCA at the moment. The diff oil is on special too. Awesome
