was thinkin of installing a cam for my bf xr6 n/a before I finally get a custom tune but dont know, what type, how much for the cam and how much for installation? would like some fed back off anyone whos done it, whos thinking of doin it, best cam, prices and stuff like that. umm the reason for the cam is that I would like a bit more grunt down low but at the same time I do a fair bit of highway driving between brisso and the sunnycoast Cheers Mick.

Crow cam or Atomic cams seem to the bes two to go with. Crow cam ae about $600 from mory andthats for their stage 2 package. I think mine were $400 for install but can't remember. Your fuel consumption will go to sh*t thouh the bigger that you go.

Since you want more down low grunt Crow Cams stage 2 would prob be the best.

RDP Motorsport gave me a quote for about $1500 - $1900 a few months back ( I can't remember it exactly) that includes to supply the stage 2 crows cams, install and tune.

Ask Elite Performance for a quote as well, they're quite good and are located in brisbane.

from my experience with cams on the Barra, OHC falcon six and the 260 boss, it's not really worth it... they sound tough, but the over all power/torque/acceleration different is minimal when compared to the cost...

Mine holds onto power up hig longer than it use to. Instead of dropping away at 6000rpm the cuve goes flat and doesn' dro away. The car runs out o revs. They would be alot eter with a built motor that is able to rev harder.

it's hard man, I mean how much do you spend on an N/A before you should really start thinking about selling up and upgrading to a Turbo...

it depends what you've got so far, with an edit, CAI, decent extractors, "hi-flowed" cat, 3" exhaust, Underdrives you should net about 180-190rwkws...

So if you've got all that I would spend the money on a set a diff gears, if it's an auto, 3.9s or even 4.11s...

If that isn't enough, then maybe a shot of NOS! but then you're really pushing the limits of the bottom end...

EDIT: if you want more low down torque, cams will most likely LOOSE power/torque below 3000rpm...
