Hi All. I want to get some feeedback from Fg XR6 turbo owners. My turbo is noisy, especially when cold. It makes a noise like a siren under low to medium revs. I have been told by the dealer that it is the same in all Fg turbos !!!! My car has just under 5000ks on the clock. I am realy not happy with this noise as it was not there until a month ago. Apatently it is normal..

I would greatly appreciate some oppinions from other fg turbo owners.

I would like to go for a drive in someone elses car to compare it with mine.

All oppinions would be greatly appreciared :sleepystuff:

Although some may agree or disagree, the turbo will make noise under all operating conditions.

Hot/cold on boost/off boost.

It all comes down to experience as to whether the noise you're hearing is in fact anything to worry about.

Based on your description of a siren under low to medium revs, I guess mine makes a similar sort of noise as it comes on boost in the described rev range.

I wouldn't call it a siren noise though, but there is definately noise at those revs. In my opinion it's a normal spooling noise.

You're car, on the other hand, may not be the same and may have an issue with it. If you're not convinced take it to another dealer and ask for a second opinion, or take it to a turbo specialist and ask them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information.. The funny thing is, the car never used to do it ! It does not effect the performance at all. I am just stressing about it.. I did take it to a turbo specialist & was told that it is a normal noise, but for a car with say 70-80,000ks on the clock. Can I take it to another ford dealer???? will they care that I did not buy it from them??

Yup, mine does it as well. It is only when not up to full operating temperature, and always under light load when slowly taking off first up on cold mornings. I usually leave the car idle for about a minute or two before driving as well.

It's been doing it for as long as I remember, and haven't had an issue yet. So yea, I don't think it is anything to worry about.

Thanks for the feedback guys :freak: Mine is exactly the same, cold start (noisy), then as she warms up it is not as bad.. At least it is not only my Fg that's doing it. It goes in this week for good oil, turbo oil filter check & general check of all bolts.. Nulon seems to be the popular choice

My dear brother coming from a BA turbo into a G6ET was surprised how 'in your face' the turbo is in the car. He'd never really noticed his in the BA.....

But hey you need SOME aural excitement. :)
