Im over it.

At least lowndes isnt sprouting about "my" wins, and what "I" did for Ford and how amazing "I" am so give me a free car... like Wingecup has.... If I were Ford, I wouldnt support that crap either.

Hopefully Ford pulls out altogether and lets the series die. Why stay on a sinking ship?

this is the response that I got from Ford after email and ringing them

Dear Steve

Thank you for your email to Ford Motor Company of Australia Limited (Ford Australia).

Ford Australia has a long history of supporting motorsport in Australia and this support continues. As part of a strategic realignment of our motorsport investment, we announced more than 12 months ago that we would concentrate the bulk of our motorsport sponsorship around two key teams - FPR and SBR from the start of the 2009 year onwards. We also continue to provide in-kind support to other teams driving Ford cars.

Our sponsorship of Craig Lowndes continues until the end of 2009. The decision by Triple 8 to move to GM from 2010 onwards will mean our direct sponsorship of Craig will cease at that time. We have enjoyed a very positive relationship with Craig throughout his years with Ford and look forward to continuing that throughout the rest of 2009.

Thank you for taking the time to write to Ford Australia.

Kind regards,

Ray Reddie

BMW quits F1

yes we know F1 is a basket case. Is V8's much better right now?

Not sure if this is earlier in this topic, but anyway.

Here's more proof for you. Only difference here is that Ford in the V8's at this time is winning. BMW in F1 isn't. More fuel to the fire that Ford realised years ago that pouring large amounts of money into V8's means nothing on the showroom floor. One would have thought that if it did mean showroom sales than F1 was far more important to BMW - seems not! The commercial reality has struck.

The sport is too expensive and run by idiots anyway who couldn't see this coming or put their head in the sand about it. DJR is Ford through and through probably more than anyone around by a long way. Yes, he shifts it's all over Rover and maybe that is inevitable anyway. Let's go back to the tourers.

I think the biggest shame about all of this is V8 Supercars was on the verge on being able to exsist without manufacturer support. Now the one company that was showing it is more then possible to be able to run a business sucsessfully without manufacturer support has just been given the biggest chunk of manufacturer support!!!!

Unfortunately this will turn the future manufacturers off entering the sport.

To all those that are saying "I will never support V8's or Ford again".... WAKE UP. If there was ever a time to call upon troops to support Ford, now is it. I know im going out and buying some new FPR gear.

GO WINTERBOTTOM and COURTNEY. We still have winners on our side, and victory will only taste sweeter.

P.S. If you want touring cars, go watch touring cars. There's plenty getting around the country if you really want to watch Touring Cars. If you believe its the future then start supporting it now. I personally like my motorsport at the highest level.
