HI PSI Member 1,586 Member For: 18y 7m 6d Gender: Male Location: Central Queensland Posted 29/07/09 10:54 AM Share Posted 29/07/09 10:54 AM I can honestly say that this will end my interest in the V8 Supercars. The whole ordeal is as always based on MONEY. I would bet my left nut that when Jamie approached Ford "At the end of 2008 when I won my first championship I personally approached Ford and pleaded with them to come up with some type of arrangement where they could use my win to get some good publicity. " that a VERY large amount of cash was part of his proposition....... I guess that Ford didnt't cave to his demands... Poor Jamie.... Any person with half a clue knows it has no impact on sales. Expensive Daewoo still sells more cars month after month, year after year regardless of "Fords" V8 Supercar wins or Bathurst wins. The cars are nothing like the cars we buy and drive Maybe The Expensive Daewoo sales continue to grow, Not because they have a better prodct. But due to ford withdrawing their support in the ATCC in the (From Memory) Late 70's. Due to their (Holdens) success after this time due to them pumping millions of dollars into the teams. Winning touring car championships and bathursts created millions of sales and a whole generation of holen lovers and now their children are following in their parents footsteps in regard to brand preference. The amount of young guys in holdens campared to Fords in my city is aroung 8-1.. Why don't they like Fords??? Because they never won races and were simply underpowered grandpa cars. It took Ford another 20 years (After their withdrawl from the tcc) to make a decent Falcon that would compare to a Commodore. Why is this you ask. Because they had no interest in racing or true performance vehicles. Expensive Daewoo benefited from the advertising and continues to outsell Ford.. Ford has only themselves to blame and they have no sympathy from me..Good luck to them all(Lowndes and Windcup), I really hope that both their and the ATCC following greatly deminishes. Bring on the Group C class. Where real production cars are raced not these monstrosities that they call Holens and Fords... Bring back the REAL Bathurst. Where you could buy a vehicle that is genuinely raced at the track... No wonder the GTHO's are worth their weight in gold.... Just my 2c... Oh that's right! They weren't winning.I think you'll find fleet sales make up most of the numbers. They aren't buying based on race results.
