Lowndsey got a bit of negative crowd reaction when stepping up to the podium.

Yep.....on Sat. arvo it was the first time Ive ever really seen the crowd "boo" Lowndes.....

As for me.....I recorded it and spent half the time watching it on the fast-forward button....

Normally, my wife would be keeping me away from sharp objects after a Expensive Daewoo 1-2..

but, to be honest, I was kinda glad that HRT did and 888 didn't win

From an enthusiast who's on the wrong side of fifty, and supported the blue oval since he was 12....that's not a good sign.

I'm really just over the whole Ford/888/Holden/V8 Supercar debacle......

Expensive Daewoo are doing what losers do and have found no other choice but to buy some champions and a champion team. It was a bit sus with the hrt heaps of sh*t coming 1 2 today. Whincup looked right at home already with his new I <3 Bananas mates.

Excuse me but are you not forgetting where Lowndes came from in the first place. Ford did the exact same thing back then. Ie Setup new team, bring in Fred Gibson & wave cash infront of Lowndes.

7MA61,I think this scenario is a bit on the higher scale than Lowndes effort. Its not Lowndes that bothers me,its the whole team and whincup that's a big kick in the nuts. Lowndes started at Expensive Daewoo so he can go back for all I give a rats. Its just a shame that you cant beleive a word that comes out of their mouths as I remember Lowndes saying he has always wanted to drive for Ford and his first car and cars he loves are Fords. I suppose when its about the dollar it doesnt matter who you drive for. Didnt even watch the race and havent since Bathurst, only caught the end yesterday. If they were my relos I would tell em to I <3 Bananas off and not talk to me. I <3 Bananas 2faced,turncoat, money chasers.

I think you missed the point there. He said Expensive Daewoo have steal the whole team, not as you put it 'setup a new team' and just steal a driver like Ford did. Lowndes was a Ford boy in the first place with his Ford Cortina. Some people would have raced for HRT like he did, I personally would not have as my blood is Blue and wouldnt even drive one as a company car. But he did and he came back to Ford years later.

I think this whole thing about blue colour is ridiculous. Yes Fords colour is blue, but when someone like 888 is racing a Falcon, who really cares what colour it is. A few ford badges on it, and a windscreen sticker should suffice. I remember how awesome the 00 AU Falcon looked in black and silver with the green headlights... where was the blue on that car? I dont care if it was a red or fluoro orangey looking car, it was still a Falcon which looked good and was winning. I think Ford missed the point there.

888 financially didnt seem to be doing too bad, and considering being the main Ford team that most fans seem to follow, the merchandise sales must have made up for it. I dont think I have bought any DJR stuff for some time, and I think the last SBR thing I bought was an Ingall Caltex dress shirt. The last few years it always been 999 merchandise. If they think they can maintain that dominance in merchandise going to Expensive Daewoo I will be amazed. With the Expensive Daewoo fans having so many teams to support anyway, im sure HRT or Toll teams already have some monopoly on merchandise, and itsnt likely to change too much.

V8 supercars going to Channel 7 was the first straw of me losing interest, their commentary is rubbish and I find myself only wanting to listen to Crompo. Skaifes voice annoys me. Now with the team that has made it exciting for me to watch in the last few years defecting, I find it hard to try and follow anything else really.

I still have the green eyed monster model car along with all the Ambrose cars from his AU on. I even had a petrol powered remote control green eyed monster and the pirtek shell aswell. OOPS getting off topic. I just hope they make a mess of it next year and the other Ford guns come through with the goods.

It comes down to business. Ford pulled funding from 888 Motorsport a while ago because their main sponsor is vodafone & thus the cars are predominantly red & silver. Ford didn't see this as a good way to represent their brand as the colour is blue. Roland obviously got a decent sponsorship deal from Expensive Daewoo and so jumped ship.

When various teams are on the verge of folding and some team owners pouring their own cash in like Johnson you could hardly argue with the management decisions if they were offered decent cash to swap camps. They may be at the pointy end of the field now but if you don't have the funds to stay their well you have to do something about it.

Roland Dane made it apparent when he entered the V8 Supercar scene that he wanted to emulate Pro Drive & more locally SBR in terms of being a team that builds cars. To do this you have to have a decent development budget, if ford aren't going to continue tipping in coin their product would cease being the market leader & thus the business of being a builder would lapse.

I reckon it's all buLL$hit! ... I have not watched the V8Supercar series for ages and this takes the cake. What a joke.

I agree with the comments on bringing back the good old days and lets race what we get out of the showroom. That way we all benefit when we invest in these barges.

How about a vote on who wants to see a Group C (Showroom) series start up?

Absolutely! After following Touring Cars/ V8 Supercars for the last 15-20 years, like a lot of the long time fans, I reckon I've had enough of watching a two make series (which is not a bad thing) when there seems to be no end to the merry-go-round of driver and manufacturer change season after season.

Bring back the Group C series and let all manufacturers have a crack!
