I have reversed this so have about 5mm rear rake now and the car handles heaps better. Winding the fronts up has given a higher effective front spring rate and stopped the car leaning as hard on the outside left tyre in corners and reduced front end push. I'll continue to play around with this, but the change has been positive as expected. the tyre wear pattern is heaps different after a track day.....in the past front left sidewall copped a hammering.......this time no problems at all. I know that Howsees car was set up 10mm higher in the nose, and this might be about right.

I have always enjoyed watching how the Vodafone V8's are set up compared to the FPR cars. They may do the same times in clean air, but the Vodafone cars are better balanced over a wide range which means they can do good entries AND exits in traffic.....hence passing. The FPR cars look like they are running too much sway bar in them and don't seem to have more roll in the rear. They don't handle entry / corner bumps as well as they should.....bit of hippy hippy shake etc. Hence, passing for them is more difficult. The Whincup/Lowndes cars look to me like they are set up even on all corners and with slightly more roll in the rear than the front....quite supple really......the point I am trying to make is it takes some load off the front and helps it turn rather than loading up the front. The first thing I do with setup is throw away the rear sway bar. Diagonal load transfer comes to mind. The rear bar will add to the diagonal load placed on the front outer in a corner. Also, with some rear toe in, the thrust line drive from the rear also helps turn the car rather than fighting it.(pity the Falcons didn't get adjustable toe like the Terri's). A temp test would be to adjust more initial camber into the rear and hence gain more toe as the toe arm is fixed in length. Will have to fit the adjustable toe bush that Fulcrum have to adjust this as a permanent fix / adjustment. As a suggestion, I would remove the rear swaybar and take it for a drive and see how it responds.....should sharpen up front response. This direction for setup has worked for me with both leaf and independent Falc's. My old has Global West upper control arms on the front and NO rear bar and it has more grip, more turn in response than the BF for exactly the same tyres and is MUCH kinder on the front tyres as well.cheers Edited 09/09/09 11:43 AM by Smoke them tyres
