If so, it's a no brainer then IMO.Do you want to drive the car, or have the car drive you?

I'm trying to decide aswell but for a bf not an fg.. does the manual cause heaps more rear end issue's (cv joints breakng etc)?? my car gets a pretty hard time but I think I would rather replace a few cv's than rebuild a ZF.. what sort of power does the ZF hold without any trouble? Born and Bred in the RSA Posted 09/08/09 01:31 AM Share Posted 09/08/09 01:31 AM OK well after owning nothing but manuals once I drove the T6 with the ZF I was hooked! My 1st auto and no regrets! For the track I switch her over into manual shift and shes a charm.Downshifts when you want and you get to hold gears longer.Fantastic box either way.In traffic it is bliss

seduced Need more power. Now taking donations. Member 753 Member For: 15y 8m 12d Gender: Male Posted 11/08/09 01:01 AM Share Posted 11/08/09 01:01 AM For me I always put myself into a sunday hillclimb situation, I love rowing the gears, blipping the throttle on downshifts, heel and toeing (for no other reason than I just can) the feel of the mechanical link to the driveline, the sound of gearshifts, the challenge of smooth and precise shifting, the dropping back of three cogs in one go to overtake, the blow off valve, the control of a clutch, the fact that all my limbs are busy, the vibration of information into my hands from the shifter, the information being fed through my foot from the clutch, the freedom to rev to 4000 grand on light throttle without having to flick around the shifter, the ability of the car to go from sedate and smooth to crazy and snappy within a moments thought, no "learning" for the gearbox, the ability to use the LSD at any time I choose....the list is endless. In some traffic situations, an auto would be nice, but I bought the car out of enthusiasm for driving, for me that includes shifting the gears and using a clutch. Everyone is different. I am having the same engine mods done to it as the two fg's soon to be seen in street fords pushing out 390rwkw for the white one and the grey a little over as it had a turbo modification done to it. I have yet to decide on man of auto everyone is telling me to go the auto but I love my manuals and plan to track work when I can plus I live down the surf coast so im not in the city often and have the great ocean road to test my baby on. Future plans will be a bigger precision turbo later down the track so figures of close to 450rwkw will be in place. I heard people saying on the forums if I am looking at these figures go the manual why is this and could someone with a bit of time please explain the pros and cons in of the manual of auto. Are the auto set ups as good as manual on the track and do they respond well the guys planning to mod it and tune it say with the flash tuning and abit of dyno work they ussualy get them to work very well and are also better for the strip and burnouts. Thanks
bru00z Member 14 Member For: 15y 4m 23d Posted 09/11/09 07:37 AM Share Posted 09/11/09 07:37 AM I picked up my manual FG F6 about 10 days ago and could not be happier with my trans choice. I test drove both boxes and the ZF is very nice but the feel the manual gives you and having that extra control is what I was after. I had people tell me get the auto and use the semi-manual mode but the first time I tried this and went to downshift and it took about 2 seconds to make the change (and no it wasnt because of the revs being too high) that's when I decided on the manual.Everyone will have different opinions so the best idea is drive both and see which one best suits your driving style
