I'll let you know once it is fitted. I bought it because I think my car is running too rich. it uses lots of fuel even when I try to conserve it. a recent country trip at a stead 110-115 delivered an average of 11.0lt/100km Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5997-air-fuel-ratio-meter/#findComment-48082 Share on other sites

Fuel economy doesn't drop below 14.5 even after a long trip on the highway !I'm sure that it's running rich, as there's a fine black power on the back of the car all the time. I just washed it yesterday, so I'm going to take careful note, but I've noticed this before, 2 or 3 days of city driving (not stop-start even) and the lip on the rear bumper bar just looks like it's never been washed. The car's a citric acid, so it might just be showing the grime more than I'm used to, but has anyone else see this ? I trust you're restting the computer before the highway trip or using instantaneous consumption. If so, and you're getting those figures, then something's wrong! Unless you cruise at 160 or something!zeke Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5997-air-fuel-ratio-meter/#findComment-48191 Share on other sites

Ford_Power Member 798 Member For: 22y 2m 29d Posted 05/09/03 12:44 PM Share Posted 05/09/03 12:44 PM Turbocharged cars are generally run richer so as to keep the combustion chamber temperature down and given worst case conditions (eg high engine temp, heavy load) the engine will not ping, and thus get damaged.Although, it is worth pointing out that it is generally at WOT that the mixture is set to run rich and not at stoic. The mixture should not really be rich under part throttle. Under part load like 1 to 2 psi it still works in closed loop . When you floor it boost goes to 5psi and mixture sits on 12:1 steady. A few times when I plant it , the boost spikes to 10psi especially when the traction control comes in , feels good whilst it hits 10psi but quickly goes back to 5psi.
