Tyre Dilemma

I just recently picked up a pair of Nitto Invo 275/35/18s for my car and am now looking for some 245/40/18s for the front but am unsure of which tyre I should choose.

My options so far are

Falken Azenis RT-615 - $330/ea

Nitto Invo - $310/ea

Dunlop Direza DZ101 -$300/ea

Toyo Proxes 4 - $300/ea

Kumho KU36 - $289/ea

Federal 595 - $225/ea

Kumho KU31 - $200/ea

Which tyre there would offer the best grip/performance $$$ wise? I am not really too fussed about treadwear either btw as I would struggle to do 7500km a year. I'd prefer to pay under $300 a tyre, but those Invos at $310 are tempting so I can keep matching tyres all round.

Any help, suggestions, opinions, ideas and any of that other stuff is much appreciated.

Where are you located? 5 or so months ago I got the 245/35x19's Toyo T1R's for $320 each fitted and balanced from Tyre Power in Reservoir Victoria. If the prices are roughly the same as when I bought mine a few months back, then 18's will definitely be under the $300 mark. They are a very good tyre. Very quite with excellent grip in both dry and wet.

Des - I'm currently running stock 17 inch rims, but will be changing to 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 and already have the Nitto Invo 275/35 for the rears, so just need to get my front tyres sorted.

straughsberry - I'm in perth, but I dont mind paying freight if it can get me a better tyre at a similar price.

If you aren't worried about treadwear, make sure you check the treadwear number listed on the specific tyre (lower the number, less kms they will last which usually means the stickier they are). I.e. Pretty sure the Azenis and KU36 are around the treadwear 180 mark or lower, while others on the list are well over 200-300.

The tyres you have listed are very different compared to one another, and I'll give you my opinion on a few:

Falken Azenis RT-615 - $330/ea (Fantastic tyre. Nearly R spec traction performance. Can't recommend them enough. Heavy, stiff sidewalls. Even heavy braking will improve dramatically with this tyre.)

Nitto Invo - $310/ea (for your requirements, I'd go with these though)

Toyo Proxes 4 - $300/ea (T1R will be better for your needs)

Kumho KU36 - $289/ea (I've used these on the road and circuit and they aren't bad for the price. Lighter and sidewalls not as stiff as the azenis)

Federal 595 - $225/ea (If you aren't worried about wear and want something stickier, look at the RSR.

Kumho KU31 - $200/ea (This tyre is good for what it is, but not in the same traction league as a Azenis)

winstor - easy answer. go the Nittos.

Mixing front / rear is less than ideal from a performance standpoint. different compounds/sidewalls mean different breakaway characteristics, different grip and performance.

I'm using the federal 595 on my car and they are excellent. Very good pirce and grip up well in both wet and dry conditions.

I read on here that different overall size causes TC etc to go a bit nuts, so watch out. Can anyone who runs different sizes confirm it is ok?

edit

tyre size calc says that the fronts in 245/40/18 are 0.5% bigger than rears.

Yeah it will, if the rolling diameter is different from front to back it'll get all confused :banghead: Not sure if it's the TC or DSC though.
