I've had a quick look around so I hope this hasn't already been covered. Is it possible to fit the auxillary audio imput yourself? I don't want to sound like a tight a@#e but if I can do it myself for a fraction of the cost I would rather do that. I mean how much does a 3 2/2 mm plug REALLY cost?If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know. I don't want to have to loose my baby to the dealer for another day unless its for its 15000km servive (9000km to go). Thanks for the invite but I might do I bit more looking before I start to pull things apart. In past experiences things USUALLY go back together the way they come out. So I will make sure it can be done first. :D Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/5993-diy-auxillary-audio-imput/#findComment-48206 Share on other sites

It should make things easier then you do not need to worry about the pin outs.If you have a look at this thread and go down to the april 7 reply there is a word document that I wrote then to install the mobile phone kit. This shows you how to pull the centre console apart. The socket for the 3.5mm input plug is nuder the tissue holder. The plug that connects it to the loom is behind the fuse box next to the mobile phone loom connector. I rekon it would take around 15min to install MAX.!Click meHappy to assist with questions if you have any. I have not installed one in mine but have gone looking for where things plug in.! Good luck. Had a go and to my supprise it all went back together without a hitch (a first I think!). Now to track down the parts needed. I mentioned that I was thinking of doing this today to a friend on a friend that works at Ford. He said that he hasn't fitted one himself but he thinks that the whole ICC has to be removed to get to the back of the sterio. If this is the case then I may have hit a snag, as that may be a bit more work than I am willing to take on. I will get on the phone to Ford ASAP and see what they say. Fingers crossed it will not be that complicated. There is no need to remove the ICC.. Just run the cable from behind the fuse box to the centre console. Very simple. Drop into your dealer and see if they have the kit. Check it out and I am sure you will find that it has a plug on the end of it that will just plug into the loom plug behind the fuse box... and away you go!
