All good news at Broady - this keeps us going for at least another 5-6 years.

Building focus would have killed ford aus - the game has changed so much in 2 years that we simply could not have sustained a small car program.

They'll be able to make them go no problem....

....trying to sell them to the public is going to be a WHOLE different ball game. :bye:

Couldn't be more wrong. Having a 4 cylinder opens up a massive market for them selling to government fleets who have bans on cars with 6 cylinders or more. Many private fleets also have these bans. Also allows export opportunities.

With peak torque from 1500rpm all the way to 5500, and with somewhere between 170 and 205 kw and between 320 to 380 nm it will have no problems moving a 1600 odd kg Falcon.

Ford do not have a DSG that will handle the torque of the F6. The torqiest engine its fitted too makes 320 nm in the Focus diesel, and as far as I know they aren't making any high torque versions.

Haven't been here for a while, but was really suprised to here the 4cyl Falcon news, its going to be interesting what the media and the general public think of it. Engines seem to be going down the small Turbo route, VW/Audi have a particularly impressive line up. Have even heard people suggesting a XR4 Falcon....

The 2.0 turbo subaru liberty's got along pretty well and they weighed about 1500kg. Also the mazda 6 mps which was about 1600kg - I know that had a 2.3 turbo engine though. There may be a slightly bigger 4 for the performance falcons???

And ford are suppose to be developing liquid injection LPG which may be good for the coyote v8 - cheaper to run and more power. This may be a way of keeping the v8 popular.

Maybe this is just wishful thinking??
