I've been in italy/turkey/greece etc recently and unfortunately nothing here compares. Anything here, even a well done espresso, for me requires a little sugar but over there it just works.

We use Lavazza Gold in the machine (Delonghi) at home - and swear by it!

I'm sure everyone wants to 'one-up' each other by coming up with the most unique and exotic brand that nobody else has heard of (you know, kind of like the superiority complex most Triple J listeners have :eyebrows: ) but sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

And yes a great deal of the time it comes down to the barista if you're talking about store-bought coffees. Especially if she has great norgs. We had one around here (Cafenatics, on Collins St in the old AXA Building courtyard) that actually did a really good cup. Sure we probably paid an extra 50-70c a cup to what half of the other places within walking distance charged, but it was worth it.

The smoking hot chick wasn't actually the barista but she was the order taker/waitress type.

An international student it seems, but now her visa's run out she's gone. But alas, I digress.

It's all good - I actually don't listen to the radio, but having said that your response their Dags essentially typifies what I was alluding to!

Don't worry the JJJ listeners aren't the worst - Vegetarians have them covered quite comfortably...

Lately im not really into coffee.. May be a bit ghey but im lovin Caramel Chai latte's... Best I've had was at Chappellis on chapel st, next best Jamaica blue..

I used to work in a cafe ages ago and we had a few different types come through, dimmatina, lavazza and a few others, but IMO the good old Nescafe Gold is up there....

Might have to try that, I'll be at Chappelis in a couple of weeks (Dad's 50th birthday, he worked there for years back in his younger days and is still good mates with the owner). Thanks for the heads up!
