been looking on the Expensive Daewoo Ford Show website to catch up with the results in Sydney on the weekend ....

started reading the rules for the dyno competition and found the following

All vehicles must nominate and run on one of the following premium pump fuels.

1. Shell Optimax

2. Mobil Synergy 8000

3. BP Ultimate

4. Caltex Vortex Gold

No vehicles are permitted to run N.O.S. (Nitros Oxide Systems).

while reading this I was wondering what would stop someone from running NOS if the car was fitted with NOS and it had been set to go off at wide open throttle setting .... I.e. the next time it was on the dyno ....

I saw a few cars in Melbourne that had NOS fitted .... and there were probably more with it fitted but the dyno runs are done with the bonnet latched down ....

In my normal skeptical manner, I can't help but wonder about how big the temptation (in the heat of battle) would be let the NOS roll on

Did anyone see any cars being checked for "funny" fuel ? (another obvious temptation)

What do you guys reckon ... and if it were you ... would you be tempted to go the quick HP button ?

it all depends on how strictly controlled the dyno's are I guess. im sure people would have been using c12 or c16 if they thought they could get away with it.....

How strict were the dyno judges?

I wouldnt do it personally, that way I know all my runs are honest. It sucks when you get beaten by a cheat though!

a guy I know from another forum was disqualified because his fuel test showed traces of octane boost. He claims he hadnt used any since june.

I was a bit worried about my car passing the fuel test. but they had no problems with it.

I am sure dyno steve can shed some more light, but I dont think NOS bottles are allowed to be connected while running.

Plus, if you suspect a car is not abiding to the rules... (ie running different fuel, or has been fitted with a stroker kit) they will test the car to confirm it. (one of the guys was suprised to find out I entered 5L class - he was sure it was a 347)
