Hi, Unlike what has been said before putting a turbo timer in a BA or BF is not that hard as the imobilizer only stops the car from starting , that is once the car is running it is easy to keep it running.

To start with use a timer with 2 keep on points that is a timer with a power in wire , a wire to run to ignition, a wire to run to accessories and an earth wire, it is also safer if it has a handbrake interface wire as well.

Next step work out where to put the timer as you may need to extend the wires then run the drop the fuse box down by undoing the 3 screws holding it in place, run the wires over the steering colum if puting the timer under the icc and cable tie to the pedal support bracket to keep them clear of the colum.

Wire like this power and ignition wires go to loom beside colum going to ignition switch (battery is yellow and ignition is red/green), do not connect the accessories wire here (we use it for somthing else, if you want to listen to the radio just sit in the car and leave the key on)

Now the trick bit you will need a change-over relay to make it so you can lock the car with the ignition on, run the accessories wire from the turbo timer to terminal 86, run a new earth wire to terminal 85 then on the back of the fuse box find a red/green wire in the top left plug, (it is the second row down and second row in from the edge of this plug) and cut this wire and run each side to the relay conecting one side to terminal 30 and the other side to 87A (this is the change-over terminal) If you need to connect the parkbrake it is an orange/green wire in the drivers kick panel.

How it works.......it just does.........trust me Cheers MD

Does that bypass the smartlock - so you can still use the remote to lock it? What effect does that have on the immobiliser?

Hi. The relay kills power to the body control module only when the timer is running and lets you lock the car and the imobiliser is only read by the car when the igition is first turned on so that is no problemo. cheers md
