I believe it's up to the descretion of the Police person who see's you take off at a rapid rate of knots.

Generally you can get charged for dangerous or reckless driving for planting the foot, especially in urban areas, but they have to see you do it

Well I just got two tickets in the one week. How's that for unlucky! :(

60 in a 50 zone in Hobart CBD (a quick dab of the accelerator and I got booked!) and 72 in a 60 "slowdown zone" on the highway.

Sticking to the speed limit in an XR6T is not an easy thing to achieve

Yer not wrong there mate, the sooner they have 'heads up' displays on the T (not an optional extra), bloody mandatory safety device I reckon, the better.

Xrsickt: we were well in the 70 zone when he put his little Kojack light on and beeped me to pull over, that's how close we were to the 70 zone. I'm not really angry about it just slightly ticked off, I mean it wasn't my fault West Coast Eagles got a flogging from the Dockers on Saturday (that must be the reason this sgt was in a huffy mood) :violin: :D

As a matter of fact a speed can be issued if the speed is in 50 metres coming into a lower speed restriction zone and 50 metres leaving a slower zone into a higher zone.

Speeding is a strict liability offence, it is only due to policy that there is a discretionary variance. Fortunately the discretion is higher in NSW with vehicle mounted radar and statioanry speed cameras but in other States such as Vic there tolerance for stationary cameras (tax machines) is down to 3%.

I explained in another post what offences were available to people who are seen accelerating harshly up to the speed limit then backing off. I think it is the Modifications section under Centre Muffler stuff.

I got nabbed in my "T" when she was about 2 weeks old, that was Christmas last year. Haven't been done since. Still maintain that I wasn't speeding when I got snapped by the camera, as this is the 3rd time I have been done in 2 different cars along the same stretch of road. All 3 times byt speed camera, all 3 times I was apparently doing 71 in a 60. How convenient!!
