I've been trying to find information about the pros and cons of putting an LSD in my G6ET. Most people just assume LSD is the best and therefore I should get it. From what I've been able to gather, LSD can promote understeer, but gives greater traction.

So can anyone tell me some actual pros and cons?

I can't think of any cons... They can be a bit sooky and only turn one tyre sometimes, but only after they have come a bit loose or got too hot. Vise-versa for open centre diff's, they tend to get sticky in the spider gears and lock up after some serious abuse :beerchug:

For a hardcore burnout car a locked setup would be most ideal to eliminate any slip, but on the street LSD is king

lsd can be great fun, take you to amazing places and make you see things that should be impossible, the cons are that you will loose a few brain cells and be scattered the next day :beerchug:

THe ONLY con I can think of is that when you drop a burnout you waste 2 tyres not one :P

lsd promotes OVERsteer, but not until you are really pushing it.

for street driving the open centre may be fine, but will really struggle off the line in the wet with any sort of throttle.

Never go over 10% throttle so I wouldn’t know :Welcome2FordXR6t:

Yes, you are right. It will induce more understeer.

I find it almost impossible to launch in the wet - in fact launch is probably the wrong word. TAKE OFF is more accurate; the arse is just all over the place by the time I've even looked at the throttle. Part of it I'm sure is the ordinary tyres the dealer threw on them (which I'll be remedying in due course) but yeah... I don't like the rain, let's leave it at that.
