Hi,

My wipers are driving me mad. They skip and bounce in both directions.

I have replaced the whole wipers section (not just the blade but also the carrier) with new Bosch units. I have cleaned the windscreen about 50 times and applied about 5 coats of Rainx and they still bounce. If I turn them on while there is no water on the windscreen they are fine, but as soon as I spray water on the screen they start to skip/bounce.

I took both arms off and they seem to be ok, still spring back etc. Could it be that the wiper motors have come lose or something causing the whole lot to shudder as both the left and right wipers skip or bounce in sync.

Anyone got any ideas? :roflmbo:

Cheers

Try reapplying the wipers with your tongue in the left side of your mouth. If this does not work ask Dagabond to send you a windscreen of the correct shape.

Are you using rubber wiper blades or those silicon ones? The silicon ones will screech and shudder like you said whereas the rubber should stay quiet and smooth.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's not the best idea to apply rainx or the the like and then use your wipers. It'll just smear the thin coat and end up looking worse, kinda defeats the purpose of using rainx? Can also cause your wipers to shudder.

notol, to be honest I am not sure if they are rubber or silicon. They are a thin single blade and are a grey colour so could well be silicon. I'll try and replace them with a cheap rubber insert.

They used to shudder before I applied rainx so I can not see how rainx would be the cause. Rainx work well when you are going over 60km/h and the rain is not too heavy but in slow traffic with heavy rain you need to use wipers.

Yea, I would try picking up some rubber ones to test, shouldn't cost more then $10 at the most.

In regards to the Rainx, I live up in between the 2 wettest towns in Aus, so I do use it every now and then myself. What I meant was that after applying Rainx and then using your wipers, they will also shudder or stutter a bit when in use due to the nature of the rainx product. Putting rubber wipers back on my car (after being told the silcone was the shiz) fixed the majority of the issues.

notol, it was skipping before the rainx application.

I'll grab some cheap rubber inserts and give them a try. Chances are the Bosch ones are silicon as they were about $30 from memory.

Mate if you replaced the unit with the whole Bosch wiper arm/blade its not the blade/arms that are the problem I have these units on my car and they are the best thing I ever did, in fact would recommend them to anybody that is sick of noisy wipers as these are a solid construction and clean the windscreen without the ford clunk. they were recommended to me by a Lexus driver who I new was very fussy.

Being greek try metho it fixes everything, otherwise I would be lookind to see if the arm itself is bent or there is a problem with the motor or as dags said the windscreen.

mine does the exact same thing, but only cuz my arm is bent a tiny bit so the blade cant fold over as it goes up then back down... if you know what I mean
