I am no car novice and have had a heap of turbo's in my day. My wife drives a standrd xr6 which I love. I bought the car off the original owner, log book confirms all this from the dealer etc. The only thing that puzzles me is the engine bay is not the same colour as the body, its a kind of black sprayed over the original blue colour. It all looks original and the owner assure me he has never had it repaired or painted, compliance stickers are all there, some parts are riveted on not bolted so they look like they have never been off. Anyone else have a black engine bay ? Edited 20/07/09 08:58 PM by vulpes

You will find that the colour of your car is painted over a black base and the colour sprayed over the top is not enough to cover the black. My old late 02 BA Fairmont had a black engine bay and the car was blue. My current mid 03 BA and my folks mid 03 BA both have the same colour as the exterior.
