New Owner

Hi, I just bought an 03 turbo ute. I am no car novice and have had a heap of turbo's in my day. My wife drives a standrd xr6 which I love. I bought the car off the original owner, log book confirms all this from the dealer etc. The only thing that puzzles me is the engine bay is not the same colour as the body, its a kind of black sprayed over the original blue colour. It all looks original and the owner assure me he has never had it repaired or painted, compliance stickers are all there, some parts are riveted on not bolted so they look like they have never been off. Anyone else have a black engine bay ?

yeah mine was mercury with black engine bay , some have coulor some don't , I prefer the black any way

All ford engine bays have a light dusting of colour. You will find that the colour of your car is painted over a black base and the colour sprayed over the top is not enough to cover the black.

My 03 BA blueprint engine bay was black.

My 04 BA F6 engine bay is same colour as the car; not black.

From my archives I have a picture of a 03 BA red XR6T with a red coloured engine bay.

So not consistent.

wasnt it pre 04 dunno when all had balck bays like 06.06 have good rods?

that was my assumption say 06.03 all had black ?

mines black,, but so is the car lol.. it's like a uncleared black though

I think the very early BA's has mat black engine bays. My old late 02 BA Fairmont had a black engine bay and the car was blue. My current mid 03 BA and my folks mid 03 BA both have the same colour as the exterior.

mine was 06/03 and it was all mat black no colour

I heard it was the metalic colours that got black bays and the flat colours got the same colour bays ,so who knows ,it would be some thing to do with saving production costs

My 04 Blueprint T had a slightly litter blue engine bay.

I had it resprayed blueprint.
