So I guess the irony in this situation is that you have no brain or intelligence, hence you bank on the DTE being correct.Distance travelled and Fuel Gauge is all you should need to view, basic mental skills would allow you to make a judgement on how you are travelling.Although in the case of the gauge being inaccurate in a whoppingly expensive 60k vehicle *tongue firmly in cheek with regard to expensive* then your stuffed either way. Surely someone as highly intelligent as yourself can see that?
South Member 323 Member For: 18y 4m 3d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 20/07/09 06:55 AM Share Posted 20/07/09 06:55 AM Well tab, same can be said for your post with reference to gauge reading 0 and DTE reading 0 so hence your empty and you need fuel (Oh and who is dumb enough to drive to guage 0 and DTE 0). Hardly indicates the comment you made about gauge being stuffed and creating this ruckus!. Also considering the topic is about DTE its quite evident one would respond to that topic without having to make reference, however due to gauage being out of the initial topic I did refer to it when discussing its accuracy. So I will see you at English 101 then yeh?Gauge not working is a problem (seperate discussion), but DTE not being accurate is hardly new. Why is it so hard for you to comprehend such a simple f*cking thing? Ford have over compensated to the point that it’s ridiculous. Don’t know what else I can say to try and get it in to that highly intelligent head of yours.
South Member 323 Member For: 18y 4m 3d Gender: Male Location: Perth Posted 20/07/09 07:06 AM Share Posted 20/07/09 07:06 AM Since when has having more fuel in the tank than what can be picked up a new topic?Fuel tanks are designed to have a safety margin in them, it is to prevent the pickup of dirt that is left in the tank, and the potential to keep the pump cool.I have 290L worth of fuel capacity in my Landcruiser, and can use 270L of it. I had 150L capacity in my pajero and could only use 132LI think you've been smacking your head against that brick wall too often! Why would you expect to be able to use the full amount of fuel as advertised as maximum capacity?

Its a new car, everything in it should do whatever it is designed to do, and do it properly. You wouldn't buy say, a TV that has 4 inputs at the back but had only 3 functioning would you?! It isn't the best comparison, but the point is that there is a feature that isn't functioning as it should. Sheesh. And we're not talking about some piece of cutting edge driver safety technology here - cars have had fuel gauges for a fair while now.

mickgibbo Member 41 Member For: 15y 7m 8d Posted 20/07/09 07:32 AM Author Share Posted 20/07/09 07:32 AM (edited) Does anyone know the usable amount of petrol the FG petrol tank holds?I know the manual says 81ltrsNow Now men. Please read the original question above. But in response to a number of item which came up through out the day (seems you all work hard) I would like to note the following.Other car manufacturers state a fuel tanks size - this is also the usable size eg my hilux, I have put 68ltrs in when it states 69ltr tanks.Fuel guages are not the best indication as when u fill up it goes to full (as you would expect) but the vast majourity of fuel guages show empty when there is in fact 10 ltrs left (normally when fuel light comes on) and you can then use every last bit of the 10ltrs.As the FG does not have a fuel light I dont know when I have 10ltrs left. yes there is the fuel used which I have to rely on.In regards to why would I worry so much there are a couple of reason:1. so I know when I HAVE to start looking to I starting liking at 100kms 80km 40km 2km 0km or -20km.2. I do a fair bit of driving and to get an extra 80km before refueling makes a big diff.3. so I know how far I can run from the cops4. its non of your f**king business. Thanks for you help.PS. If you havnt worked out already I dont proof read my writing. Edited 20/07/09 07:41 AM by mickgibbo
