lol, u 2 get a room

I ran mine down to about -10km DTE and managed to squeeze 62lt in the tank.

I would say there is 8-10lt in the tank when the DTE is 0 and the gauge reads empty.

I found that the empty goes to well below empty when the tanks is almost dry.

I think you've been smacking your head against that brick wall too often! Why would you expect to be able to use the full amount of fuel as advertised as maximum capacity?

I don't expect to use every last drop in the tank before topping up...but 20% left in there is a little over the top..........

I think our expectations of a base model with fruit falcon are too high. Yeh I agree that 20% is a fair old chunk, but even my German engineered Fiesta has a 15% margin when empty. I would raise my ebrows moreso if my advertised 68L tank required 85L to fill when/if the tank was drained for whatever reason. Whereas if I can only fit 58L into my 68L tank whenever I had to fill, it wouldnt phase me one bit...

That last couple of L of fuel is going to have a heap of floaties in it, and I certainly wouldnt want to be sucking that sh*t through the system, sure its filtered, but why bother with the potential risk?

This would be something that would give me the sh*ts on a 200k car, but on your average 60k diet it's not something that you need to put your car into the workshop time and time again for.

yep I'm with you south...cars valued a 0-50k no fuel gauge should come with them..from 50-150k should come with a stick...dip and check method...150k and on should only come with working fuel gauges....and while we are at it maybe headlights only on dearest models... :spoton:

LMAO

My point exactly :spoton:

In terms of 100% accuracy, does it really matter that you have 6-10L left in the tank?

Do people feel ripped off that they cannot access that 6-10L of fuel? Because if you bought the car with any fuel in the tank, you will have never paid for that amount you cant use, so your not at any financial loss...

floaties are a thing of the past when it comes down to the last few litres in the tank.

Unless you are in regional areas with low turnover servos, the fuel we get is nowadays very clean.

You also have a fuel filter that is designed to filter the fuel. There is more risk in filling up the car as it would stir up all the bits and make them more susceptable to being picked up.

I do not think there is a problem if your car is readin empty with a 0 DTE with still 10lt left. Remember that the car needs to run at all angles and should you be going up a steep hill, you would still expect the car to drive if just hitting empty.

I think that Ford have built in a fair margin to protect YOU the driver against running out of fuel

Any one else having issues with the Distance to Empty ?

I have a 9-month old FG.

Shows 0km to Empty but will then only take 50lts (tank capacity is 68lts).

Is this a simple recalibration for Ford to make ?

Yep known problem. I had the sender unit (in the tank) replaced under warrenty which has fixed the fuel guage/DTE issue.
