Gents

Apparently my car is on the production line at the moment.

I have been given my SIDO number (6 digits) and have been looking at the ford website waiting to see some pictures.

Does anyone know how long it takes until you get these pictures? The site keeps on telling me that they are not available until the car is "Retailed".

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You can only get your photos after the dealer has reported the car has been picked up. After I sent the request on the website I was emailed the photos about 20 minutes later. Don't lose any sleep over the photos they're nothing special, but it's nice to have them. A mate of mine even insisted on keeping all the delivery stickers that come on the car when the dealer gets it, I guess some people like to keep everything.

I found the site the other day and put in my VIN number.

I only got 2 photo's though, does any one know how many there are supposed to be? Or am I one of the only unlucky ones who only had the cameras rolling for a few seconds?

There should be 3 photos. 1: On overhead clam line where the engine and trasmission are fitted. 2: On the trim line. 3: At the end of the production line.

Yeah, I find the implementation this good idea of Ford's rather strange!

If they made available high-res, well-exposed photos on the net to people who could show they had that car on order, it would be great!!! (Anyway, who'd be going to the trouble of getting build photos of someone else's car and, if they did, what would it matter?)

Instead, the photos, which are pretty ordinary in quality (Ford needs advice on digital cameras) are only available after the owner has taken delivery and has the beast "in the metal". They lose a lot of impact then!

So, a potentially great idea, that delivers much less than it could due to half-hearted execution. Pity really!

But then, maybe I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth!

My 4 photos arrived within 15 minutes. The one missed off the above list was "The Main Framing Line", prior to panels being added and prior to painting.

Agreed with the comments above, really neat idea by Ford, but the super low quality of the photos makes the exercise a waste of time. 4 decent quality digital cameras would add little cost, and vast improvements. Perhaps users could get a resolution choice (I.e. low for modem, high for DSL connections etc).
