Hey GrandDad,

At least you're fine & live to drive another day. Cars can be repaired even straighter than new and Im sure if deemed rep[airable you will be right on the repairers case. that's why we have comprehensive insurance, its their problem to sort it out and make sure all is well. You're fine and that's what counts.

Yeah, the other vehicle has 3rd party, but hasn't paid the excess yet despite lodging a claim, so things getting bogged down. Until the excess is paid there are no quotes, and until the car gets the full assessment, I don't know whether it will be written off or repaired.....hoping for some resolution on Monday - my preference is probably for a write-off (will miss the girl), but with a nice cheque I'll be looking to get straight back into one again asap. There is a couple for sale going around, so I might get lucky and pick up a good one. Pretty keen to get back into BF MKII F6 again...but I need confirmation of the extent of the damage first.

It made me sick looking at those photos given it looks like a spitting image of my car and reminded me of an exact prang I had many years ago in my brand new EL Futura company car.

Cars can be replaced but look after yourself first...I was shunted at 80km/h whilst stationary at a zebra crossing, no skid marks just ploughed into me and the guy who hit me bit his tongue off on impact (He was talking to his mate and not paying any attention) After many tests I got given the all clear..but then many years later ive had problems in my eyes and lower back which was traced back to that accident. Im not trying to be alarmist but get yourself checked real good by specialist doctors. Not all injuries are easily visible.

Got the bad news today - no write off!

Apparently the car is repairable. It will cost close to $30k all up. The parts list alone is about $20k.

The reason for this decision is because the repair bill is less than 70% of the agreed value of the car. Interestingly though, this excludes any suspension, tyre, wheel, brake or other mechanical damage! These things will only be examined and reported back to the insurer once all the panels etc have been removed. Maybe still a slight chance the plug will be pulled, otherwise R-Spec # 202.1 will be on the road in an extimated 4 weeks to infinity timeframe!

Sorry to hear,

You may have problems getting replacement bodykit parts as from what I have heard is that

Ford hasn't got stock of some pieces.

The rear looks mostly superficial, was the rear quarters damaged as bit hard to tell from picture.

If so make sure they replace the whole quarter panels and dont just fill it with 2 tonne of bog.

What insurance company you with, its great you got agreed value as if it was market value you would be

screw'd. And if that was the case I reakon the guy who hit you would also be screw'd.

Make sure you get the repairer to give it a full respray so it all matches and while at it get him

to add some pearl.

Good luck in having it sorted.
