hi guys

getting into some mods for my T, so far a high flow cat and twin 2 1/2 exhaust got a walbro gss341 to deka 60lb injectors to install, then getting it tuned.

Later down the track (couple months) goin a intercooler kit and nizpro valve springs.

Wondering what the thoughts are on tuning methods. Whether a custom VCM tune is the go or get the flashtuner with a coupe of setting is better. (Price, performance, reliability, etc)

Thanks Dudes and Dudets

if the guy's using the gear are good with it ,the only real difference is if you want the option to be able to select between your tunes ie. soft tune if some one else is using your car , or full race tune if drags is your thing that's the only real benefit of the flash tuners

Ok. Here's my take on it. It may not be 100% correct...

VCM is still in beta and not all of the tuning parameters are there for certain models.

VCM isn't an option for me because I'd need to drive 2+ hours just to change the tune. At least with the SCT device you can change tunes right there and then if you notice pinging for example.

End power results between the 2 will be NO different. What they do is essentially the same thing. The only differences are the interface the tuner uses, how each package is connected to the car and the method the vehicles owner has to change tunes.

sweet thanks gys

yeah the capa flashtune might be the way to go cause the missus isnt the greatest behind the wheel and dont really want her to drive it at around 300, could end in disaster, dont want to hurt my baby....... oh or the missus too. jks lol

Any or many differences between capa units, I dont know much about them.

I visited 2 well respected tuners recently. The first couldnt stop raving about VCM saying it god's gift to this earth and all that. Even spent time showing me a whole bunch of different tables from my old custom tune(which looked like sh*t BTW). VCM didnt seem from what I saw to be in beta.

Second tuner then went on to rubbish VCM saying it doesnt have all the tables and paramters that SCT have.

So im like hmmmm who is BS's here?

that is one bonus with vcm it can read the tune you have ie flash tune 13 psi and give the tuner a good idea what has been set up so if you change tuners you have a good base point.they can down load a stock T tune and an edited T tune and overlay them to see whats been changed

I think they are catching up fast vcm but just don't yet have the industry support they need

I have a stage 4 crow cam in my old beasty datsun bluebird goes good, I have alwaysed liked crow gear and yeah they arnt too bad price now either, good to now there are other companies out there apart from the main stream ones.

Think I might go the basic flash v1, dont care much for the other gimmic stuff too complicated for me. Just lock in the tunes that will do for me haha.
