Have been trying hard to get traction using the mt's down the strip & have resorted to a full blown spectacle when trying to get some heat into them just to make sure but my question is can you overcook the mt's? Have found when I get really over excited that there as bad as bein ice cold. Is there a fine line between traction & ice when heating these buggars up?

Question: What kind of burnout is recommended with Mickey Thompson slicks?

Answer: 1. Automatic transmissions: 1st pass or two, do a fairly hard burnout. After that a light burnout should be sufficient.

2. Standard transmissions: -Stockers- No burnout or short, dry burnout is sufficient. Super Stock or Comp cars- light burnout, haze tires and stage immediately. Generally, tires work better with a light burnout, rather than a hard burnout. This also increases tire life.

Note: ET Street™ tires may require a fairly hard burnout on the 1st and 2nd pass to break in.

Note: For more information on M/T slicks please consult M/T Tech bulletin # 1.

Thanks boys that's what I thought & hell yeah they love to smoke just cant help myself because im usually so passive on the street. Lucky they keep making them.

Is it too much when you cant see the tree or out your front windscreen. lol

At what point in wear do they become not as effective?

Like with most competition soft compound tyres, they go off after too many heat cycles.

I'm not certain about M/Ts, but semi-slicks for ciruit go off and can take ages to heat up... its the reason why race teams always get rid of tyres frquently.

I think you need 28in slicks and front runners mate.

yeah I know doh. I think after this next trip if we cant quite crack it I'll look right into that but if I do I'll least go to a descent track otherwise I think it'll be a wasted effort.

I know I keep saying how ordinary the track is I'll see if I have video or a pic to prove it.
