Hey guys, thought I would start my first topic today as ive just purchased what I think is a verygood value tyre for stock rims. The tyres in question are the Sumitomo HTR Z111 235/45/1794Y.

I initially went in for some Toyo Proxes 4 and was shown a tyre that will match the performance of the Proxy but at a much better price. Now the features of the tyre were suprising for the price

(195$ Sumis & 280$ for the Proxys),very stiff sidewall, wide shoulders(tyre was as wide as a 245/45/17 Proxy) and a silica compound A symetrical tread.I took his word for it and said if im not happy youll se me tomorrow for some Toyos to be put on.He smiled and said no worries very confidently. In the decision I saved a bit over 300$:)!

Now as soon as I pulled out the carpark that these were a good thing.Great steering feel, little if any road noise and a little safety braking proved they were not equal but better than the Toyos.

Grip is yet to be determined but a gentle stab provided no spin in 1st to 2nd change(stocky with stall).Im converted to say the least. The shop in question is City Discount Tyres at Nailsworth and were great to deal with, now for the phonecall to CDT to say cheers yous were right.

Is this an isolated experience, any other sumitomo users out their.I think they may even cut the mustard at Mallala for my application which is a added bonus.

I've got Sumitomo ZIII's on mine, and my previous set were the same tyre as well. Not bad for what you pay I reckon, and once they get hot they are fairly sticky.

Was looking at these for my stock rims as well... but still leaning towards the Proxes 4's (can get for just over $210 a corner)....

Thankyou for replys,

Im going back on weekend to get my spare replaced with these as well.Going for a drive to Victor today so ill get a good gauge how well they behave in wet weather.

One bonus ive experienced is when turning onto a road with light throttle in wet the traction control isnt going of slightly at all.The only negative thing ive noticed is when you go over a speed hump you can feel the bump slightly more than the Toyos at the same speed(10kmhr),no biggy.

G'Day Guys,Any update on these tyres? I need to update mine pronto.

Are they still performing?

How are they in the Wet?

How is the Mileage going, to you think you will get more than 30 000kms out of them.

Thanks
