I want to get a solid state Mp3 player for my car... Ive seen a Creative Labs Nomad C model that holds 6GB for $418. Anyone know of anything cheaper?

There's heaps that are cheaper but none that have the gb storage capacity of the C, 95% of the cheaper ones are round 128mb capacity. $418.00 is a good price, ive seen one shop trying to retail them for $800.00.

mp3direct have them for that price but there sold out.

The Nomad C is not a solid-state MP3 player -- it has a 1" 6gb hard drive built in (notebook size). Solid state MP3 players are either a lot more expensive or have much smaller capacity.

I got me a Sony MP3 head unit that plays normal CDs and MP3 CDs. I paid something like $800-900 for it back then so you ppl should consider yourselves lucky that you can get 6gig MP3 players for around half the price of what I paid.

MP3s are definitely the way to go! atm, I have over 1200 tracks in my car! Now, show me a disc changer that can hold that many CDs. hehe

Bought a JVC mp3 head unit for the daily driver, $349 from JB Hifi. Superb unit - plenty of handy functions like full title scrolling, fantastic handling of multiple folder levels, random play within a folder, etc. Just superb! Can't ever go back to "normal" cd's now!

I think what CJ means is a player that doesnt take a disk or card of any sort to play and with decent capacity to hold a fair amount of MP3's onboard that'll plug into the Aux plug.
