Remote Start

Hey guys,

I was thinking of upgrading my alarm in my car with a 2-way pager type set up (I.e Viper or Black Widdow) ever since my GPS was stolen at work about 5 months ago.

I was told a while back that a remote start cannot be installed in a BA Mk1 as the immobiliser won't allow it, is that true? can u get a remote start installed?

remote starts are cool. I had one on my '74 ke20 corolla, it used to spin people out when it seemed to start by itself.

haha nah I have a valid reason for mine.

Its on Liquid LPG and takes like 20 - 30sec to purge on a cold morning ..so its needed

You can as I have it on mine. Trick is though you need to get another key, cut off the bit that goes into the ignition. You just want the sensor part of the key because you need that sensor to be right next to the ignition barrel for remoter start to work with the smart lock. I find it more of a novelty which is the reason I don't have a cut key sitting beside the barrel. But after playing with the idea this is what was needed to do it.

Yep, definitely possible..

I used to have it on my last car even, NL Fairlane By Tickford... was great for cold mornings or times you wanna make a REAL fast getaway

I just throw the keys to the wife or kids and tell them to go start it.

well im not married and I dont have kids...... that I know of

who will install it though? bcoz I dont think places like strathfield or autobarn will?

will a normal auto elec do the trick?
