Hi Guys,

Im in the process of building a FG F6 up to and over the 500rwkw mark. I currently have the stock ZF box.

Will the ZF be able to handle over 600rwkw?

What can be done to strengthen the ZF?

What are my other options and who is the most compotent in the country with working with the ZF?

Who in the country has the most power going through the ZF?

Any answer's to these questions would be a great help and much appreciated.

I don't think there is anyone in the country running over 450rwkw with a ZF mate, qik1 up in NQ is running 430-odd and bcl has peaked at around the same figure too.

Get in touch with Dominello Transmissions as they seem to be doing some good work with re-building the ZF box, although I'm not really sure what it is they use to strengthen them. FSIX had his box built by them...

There are a small number of us that have 130+ mph passes with stock zf at full weight.... that's probably around the 400-420rwkw (6f equivalent)

One of the guys in WA that was running more power broke an input shaft.

I have a spare input shaft and clutch packs, but so far haven't had to use them.

With 600rwkw you'll be a guinea pig. You also have no chance of controlling the very low 1st gear in the zf due to wheelspin; it's hard enough as it is at around the 400 level.

/\/\/\/\/\/\ - Cmon Brandy, play fair!!! :B):

Just spoke to Dominello, I think his name was Tony. Great bloke and very helpful.

As im not building the car for the track (sorry to disappoint) he seemed to believe it will be good to go deep into the 500's and possibly 600's. He also believes there isnt a better option then the ZF. I will be sending the box to Dominello's for a fair bit of strengthening just to be safe.

He said the only issue he has seen with the ZF's is the input shaft breaking which is only roughly $500 to repair.

I will want to do the odd drive down the 1/4, just will have to be a bit soft on the launch and leave the quick times to the real racers.

Brandonn - I'd be scared if I was you, looks like my plans have come forward 3 months. New turbo and manifold arrive this week and engine comes out of the car next month!!!

How does this sound, I'll leave the hand brake on when I put it onto the dyno. Does that even up the playing field? And for some reason, I like it when you call me Karaline.

Karl, Did Tony tell you what he actually does to the box to make it stronger?
