Due to a request from the BBC, the website will be taken down.

I had been told in the past through unofficial channels that as long as I didn't offer direct downloads, they would leave me alone, but that is apparently no longer the case.

It has been a wild ride, and you never know, if I find a less cooperative host in the future, I may start the site back up, but in the meantime, if I find another site like this, I will post up a link here, so keep checking back.

In the meantime, you can still get all of your Top Gear episodes fairly easily using a combination of Finalgear.com and a free account at btaccel.com.

Not as convenient as just going to the site and watching the video, but at least it doesn't involve uploading for hours, and your ISP is none the wiser

To the BBC:

This site was on track for 7.5 million hits this month. You have a HUGE number of dedicated fans all over the world that are trying desperatedly to get at some Top Gear. I get tons of emails on a daily basis asking where to buy Top Gear on DVD, so even if you don't offer a free solution like the iPlayer or offering episodes on Hulu, your fans will jump at the opportunity to get Top Gear in an official maner.

Contact

If you want to send the BBC an email about their decision to close this site, here is where you should do it.

Apparently the torrents via Finalgear.com are pretty fast to download as they have a few thousand active seeders...I say apparently as I have no idea about any of that stuff and would never try it myself. :dontknow:

Im glad they took that Ferrari FXX off the hot laps board. That board is for road cars, not thinnly disguised race cars.

Agreed. Sure it's awesome, but even if you buy one you can't keep it at your place or drive it whenever or wherever you want.

Although Top Gear Aus isnt as good as the UK version, I still enjoy it and find it is much better than the first season as well.

Now that they're comfortable with each other, hopefully we'll see more practical jokes and funny things like that instead of lame dad jokes from the cartoonist.

Doubt it.

Whether they're making jokes or hanging sh*t on each other, only one word springs to mind... contrived.

You can't manufacture chemistry which is what makes the UK boys so much fun to watch. The cars are almost secondary on the UK version, ask your girlfriend or mum if they enjoy the show for proof of this.

Yes they get the most insane cars on the planet and do incredible things with them but the only reason their budget allows for this is because of the years of quality episodes under their belts, due to being funny, clever and downright entertaining.

At the end of the day, the Aussie guys can't even imitate it closely enough to make themselves watchable and even if they could, they'd always be the ugly sister of the original.

IMO they should leave it to the professionals and go back to their day jobs.

:buttrock:

That last episode mentioned above (with the 17 year-old challenge) had me in stiches. Just piss-funny from start to finish.

I really don't think anyone else would ever be able to match it, just give up now and completely change the format as it looks too try-hard.

Have you watched season 1 or 2 or Top Gear UK. Its nowhere near as funny as it is now. Infact the first season of UK top gear had some fat bloke on it instead of James May.

Point being UK top gear is now at season 13, it took them quite a few seasons to find their groove.
