Hey all I've always been a Expensive Daewoo guy, test drove the monaro because I've always wanted one, then drove a 2005 BA xr6 turbo, man that things sh*ts on the monaro in every aspect!! Thinking about picking it up this week. Just need some help because I have no idea about fords and I've been checking out the forums getting some info but anything else can help.

Its a 2005 BA XR6 turbo 70,000ks, pretty stock. It has the leather seats and reverse sensors options. Shockwave blue. 12months reg

His asking $21,000 What do u guys think?

Also whats some small mods I can do cheaply and not at the expense of fuel efficiency?

I also love the flutter, how can I make it louder?

Any help appreciated thanks...

4 speed auto's are a little weak.. you won't be able to push big power through them without some modifications usually.

try and get the 6 speed auto or 6 speed manual (BA MKII for the 6 sp manual, BF onwards for the 6 speed auto) and save yourself the hassle later on.

Investing a little more now (and not buying wheels/lowering) will enable you to have more fun down the track.

Whenever I buy a car, I always do a full fluid change of all different fluids, do a full service including coils/plugs/oil/filters/ etc

Leave the wheels and lowering until after you've got a reliable car to drive everyday. I personally wouldn't pay more than $17-18k for a BA MKII 4 sp with 70,000km's.. depending on options or mods.

Good luck with it mate.

Just bought my 2003 BA XR6T Auto about 2 weeks ago. I fell in love as soon as I drove it. I paid for it though, $17,750 with 100,000 but its got leather and premium sound and it is absolutely immaculate (it's a deceased estate). Im in Brisbane, so you are always going to pay a few more grand for one up here. The hardest thing is getting the color that you want (I wanted mercury, so that's what I had to wait for)

First thing I did to mine was change the oil and filter, and put a K&N air filter in it. Then, the plugs, fuel filter, diff oil, brake fluid, belt and coolant were changed. Gearbox oil looked good. Might do the coil packs soon too.

I have an ETM oil feed line for the turbo and a F6 typhoon cold air intake on the way. Both cheap and (from what I have been told) necessary mods that you should get onto as soon as you can!

cheers, J

that's what everyone says.. not looking for huge power..

if you're not looking for huge power, buy an XR6 N/A and spend the money you saved not buying the turbo on making it fast.

The turbo's are begging for around $5000 to be spent on them to bring them up to the way they should have been from factory. running 12psi boost and going like a dream..

You can drive them stock, but sooner or later, you just wanna go faster! and faster! and faaaaster!

2005 Shcokwave? Wasn't there a serious paint issue for shockwave around this age? I'd be checking it over carefully first.

Other than that, id offer under 20k and put 5 aside for mods as above.

Hey mate,

Definitely go manual if going BA MkII or BF 6 speed auto. I purchased mine for $22k and spent a little under $2k and gained over 70rwkw with an edit and injectors. Fuel economy has improved. If you think its quick, wait until you get an edit, very fun and all induction and flutter noises increase with the extra boost.
