Just to keep this thread running....

Why are people using reset leaf springs instead of just using lowering blocks ?

Is there a particular reason for going through the extra hassle of resetting springs ?

I haven't seen a final word on what's happening with Fords changes to stop CV damage from lowering, does anyone have an update on that ?

If we're talking busting CV joints on the axles, what's that got to do with two piece tail shafts being a fix for this issue and why only auto trannie utes being affected ?

Is there an answer out there ?

I don't have a ute to look at, does anyone have an exploded parts list or something that shows the set up so I can understand this problem better ?

There are no CV joints for the wheels on the Utes. Guys are just popping tailshaft CVs due to the shaft hyper extending as the geometry is out. I have had SSL all round for over a year with no issues, no new noises, even the axle tramp has calmed down. Mine is a manual Feb 09. It is believed that earlier lowering methods were the culprits, reset leaves, blocks etc. Not heard of anyone doing a tailshaft with factory power for a long time. King springs revised the eyes on their leaves which fixed the problem I think.

I believe it's only the autos that have had problems,

I have front ssl and reset leafs 4 1/2 lower with no problems in a manual

Seems to be a bit hit and miss. Thing it also had to do with sudden changes in the angle of the shaft, like sudden WOT and hitting a bump, or loading it up and backing off.

In saying that though, people have also done a tailshaft with stock suspension.
