as the heading says, looking into buying an xr6 turbo interstate (im in vic looking at a SA car).

are there any traps I can need to worry about, inc a plan to trade my old car to the dealer interstate? will a dealer be interested in an interstate traded car?

I know I will have to get my own reoard worthy and rego, but I should be able to get the car cheaper than advertisted, the seller would not have to worry about offering a RWC and the usual used car waranty.

Its a pity there is no national vehicle status checks register to check to see if the car has been stolen owes $$ etc, most states seem to have their own version.

put a deposit on the car

Im getting the car inspected and if all goes well I will be driving to Aderlaide an back to Geelong. Will be a good chance to get used to the car.

The car is a dec 06 BFII xr6 turbo, red with premium sound. The car only has 33,xxx kms as well, so im pretty happy!!

congrats, hope it all goes well. I just got mine recently from Brisbane, and drove it back to Sydney - just beating that bad rainy period where northern NSW got isolated.

how much was this car? 33000kms is pretty low.

paid a bit under 25k with a trade in for my 89 laser, was pretty happy with the trade in.

Prob a bit high but I have been searchign for months for a car with low kms in auto with premium sound. still has the ford waranty til december so Ill have plenty of time to iron out the kinks.

wont be sold with a road worthy, if I get a roadworthy done and items need fixing, depending on the item (I know wear and tear tiems like etc etc are not covered) would it be covered by the ford waranty. not looking forward to running the ford dealer waranty service, just have to find the right dealer :spoton:

just got the call about the 1295 dollar paint protection...

Hey oldschool,

I live in werribee and work in geelong, I take my car to rex gorrell ford in geelong and I personaly think there customer service is second to none. took my car in cause the gear shift boot had the tiniest of cracks in the leather (manual) so they replaced it even replaced the aluminium shifter nob as well as they said there was slight discoloration in the other old one, fixed other stuff I was not even aware of. and to top it off a 30k service at ultra tune was $380 and rex gorrell did it for $320 work that one out !!!.

Good luck

price seems decent, theres cheaper ones but most are ex chasers or modded (no warranty), have higher km or are a bit rough. When I was looking a few months back good ones were still going quickly even advertised around 28k.
