Well guys my FG is almost a year old....well a couple of days away....Was just wondering what people where thinking about there FG"S a year down the track...

As most of you know I started a thread that I owned a fg lemon with the endless problems I experienced...But finding a ford dealer that was prepared to help and fix most of the problems has taken the sour taste left in my wallet away....

It's travelled a little under 22000km's.The last 6 months the car has just been awesome most enjoyable. To be honest really don't regret buying it now....The performance still brings smiles to the face and the handling is impressive..Love those cool mornings and nights feels like it has an extra 20kw or so.....

So a year down the track what do you all think about your FG'S...

Mine is only 3 months old and has 4,900km on the clock.

Still love it, few niggles, but nothing major. Now the brake shudder is fixed I am happy as a pig in...

I know Buf that fg may have a smaller turbo but damn it comes on quick , I think I will just get a pic of a white fg and glue it on my rear view mirra , it's all I can see when we go out

So much better than my old BA ute , smoother, torque everywhere, like the lux. interior, doesnt seem as skittish in the wet, lot better fuel economy, which is understandable as the BA was 4 speed and FG ZF 6 speed and what a great auto !!. Downside - Clunky diff (being replaced this thursday) I-Pod integration problem, it plays but nothing comes up on the screen(hopefully fixed with update) Rattles at idle due to heat shields (hopefully fixed thursday) if not I'll fix it myself like I had to do with the BA when fords half arse attempt didnt work. Have done just over 40k now and the turbo or manifold hasn't even got a loose bolt which is pretty good as I dont miss having to tighten up all the turbo/dump/manifold bolts on a weekly basis. Almost a year down the track I still enjoy getting up in the morning and driving to work. :spoton:

8 Months here and still very happy with mine.

Much nicer and more comfortable to be in than the old BF F6.

Had very few issues with it since new, that being sqeeky brakes which I fixed but came back. Need to re do it but properly this time. I blew my shaft but got it fixed and havent done another one to date. Just learnt to not cane it with load in the tub.

It's developed some very minor clunks in the last couple weeks but concidering how I drive it I reckon it's to be expected.

I have also sqeeky struts which I assume are worn due to the very low ride hieght. Time for an upgrade I thing.

All in all I'm very happy with it, apart from the lack in power which will be addressed shortly..

12 months on and 24500kms and still puts a smile on my dial everytime I slide into the seat.

Only a couple of disappointments.

1. Tyres were shagged at 24000kms. That was after rotations every 5000kms and no funny business with the back tyres.

2. Diff bush rooted at 16000kms. Which I replaced myself as it worked out cheaper than going to a dealer to get it done under warranty. It sucks being 500+kms

from a dealer sometimes.

3. Premium sound. Yeah right.

On the positive side though, plenty of power everywhere.

Good on the motion lotion when you don't squeeze the right pedal too hard.

The drivers seat was made for sitting in for long hauls. 2 weeks and 8000kms in one stint and I got out of it after mostly all day driving without a single twinge to my back and was ready to do it all again.

The fact I had the only FG in the town I lived for 9 months after I got it had people looking all the time and always asking questions.

The first 2 weeks I had it there would have been a dozen people ask me what it was as I had it debadged at the dealer before I took delivery.

"Just a 6 cylinder Falcon", I would say............

Mine rocks!

Ive done 5000kays in about 6 weeks, being an ex-demo it had 4500 on it already and was 7 months old, so now 9500 and all good.

Unfortunatley the engin oil haddnt been changed, and was a little low and very black, but Ive changed it twice in 5000kays so its nice and clean inside the motor now.

It was getting a tap tap sound on cold start up, like a old EA sticky tappet, but that's gone sinse the oil changes.

The auto seems good, a few funny changes when cold, but fine otherwise, I'll get it serviced befor its first tune in a few weeks to make sure its changing correctly.

Gave it a good run on the last forum cruise... left the BA-BFs way behind through the hills, the power out of the corners is great, I just kept it in 3rd and 4th up and down the mountains and the gearing was excellent, the brembos pulled it up time after time with just light pedal inputs, but very dusty pads.

The turn in is awesome, I got the boys to set it up pretty agrressive when the King springs were fitted (1.5deg neg camber front, 1 deg neg camber rear, 0 deg toe) so its alot more agressive turn in that was stock, plus the 265 and 295 tyres have huge grip compared to the stockers, which made it feel very controlled and stable at quicker speeds.

I blew the stock sub last week lol... wired up a 12inch JL in a small sealed box to the stock system, now its Ibiza in there, totally different, big sound!

Negetive things... interior trim is a bit flimsy, if you have the windows down an inch and hit some sydney potholes they wobble around, and bang abit... and there was no where to mount the boost and AFR guages that looked neat and tidy like the pods on the BA.

Cant wait to fit up the big huffer and start making some serious power!

Had mine just on 6 months and notched up 12,000 kays.

Biggest complaints are:

1. Ford "service" - I know that's not a problem with the car but I couldn't resist, although it does tie into point 2

2. Fuel gauge still not accurate. Will take it in for a third time when I get the chance

3. Dash is rattly over anything but the smoothest of surfaces. There's an annoying buzzy sort of rattle sound (if that makes sense) that seems like it's coming from behind the ICC screen.

I really can't fault a single thing about it otherwise. In the words of Kazakhstan's most famous export, Great Success!
