People say it can't be boosted without a tune as the computer won't allow it. If this is the case then a punched cat won't allow the car to run 20psi. Which one is it? will the car overboost or does the computer control boost? If a cat will allow the car to run a higher psi then surely an electronic boost controller could be used without a tune. From a nissan supporter (not xr6-ctown)
gregor Member 459 Member For: 16y 6m 8d Posted 25/06/09 07:08 AM Share Posted 25/06/09 07:08 AM (edited) Its electronically controlled and punching/changing the cat changes the parameters the system works with, similar to if you used a larger maf/housing it would mess up fueling. You can run more boost with a controller but if it isnt tuned it wont make power and will be very dangerous. At a recent dyno day my stock xr6t made 195rwkw. Another T was running 18 psi and only made 50kw more with a really bad a:f ratio. If you have to tune it anyway why bother adding extra hardware?I'm a nissan supporter too but you're giving them a bad name by not thinking things through. You dont have an r33 or s13/4 do you?
