a mate got a custom 9 inch conversion done on his BF Mk1 ute.

pretty sure it cost him 4400.

and he's still got around another 1200 to go finishing off the front tailshaft section.

Getting a billet centre with 3.4 diff gears and having my cv's/axles rebuilt. They were all flogged out so they both had to go, but looks like they can be repaired.

The diff is costing me $4000 plus all the mounts and rubbers etc.

EDIT: This is what my diff looked like, it came out literally like this - the mechanic hasnt pulled apart a thing.

The 9 inch conversion was really starting to push the $$$ mark too high, it got up to around $9,000 and that wasnt everything included, and I think there was labor on top of that, but I cant remember, I didnt pay much attention to that quote.

My current quote is for a billet centre with 3.4 gears, have to get my axles/cv's rebuilt and all new bushes, rubbers and mounts - total bill for that is around $7,000....

um wow that's high.

you can get complete rear ends from wreckers over here for like $1200. that includes a centre and cv's and crossmember and bushes and brakes etc

I would be looking at a cv upgrade like the albions ones, which use the stock shafts, that's around $1k I think.

Woah, that diff is mashed!

In all honesty, how hard were you pushing it? and at what point did it blow?

Also, how much power are you running?

About 320rwkw give or take. Was coming out of a set of lights, wasnt exactly getting up it, but wasnt going slow (no tire spin) and when I shifted into 2nd it just happened - so about 60k's I guess?

Prices are getting cheaper, now down to $6,000.

that's not standard parts either, that's stronger, beefier parts.
