Just got the 15,000 k service on my non-t xr6.

After hitting the freeway and going over 100km/h I notice a pretty bad shudder in the front end either suspension or front wheels. Feels like the tyres are unbalanced but Im not sure. They did include the tyre rotation and balance in the service btw.

I only notice the vibrations at speeds over 107km/h and am affraid of going any faster :beerchug:

Any suggestions?

Also Ive recently heard a croaking/almost grinding sound comming from somewhere in the car. At first I thought it was in the engine bay (I got new extractors and pipe) but not I think its more at the rear end. It only really happens when I turn sharply at slow speeds. Any ideas?

Cheers.

Also just off topic Ive wanted to lower and basically upgrade the suspension but am not sure what springs/shocks are the best, any help there would be sweet too.

Cheers

I wouldn't think it's brake shudder, but maybe it's the beginnings of brake shudder? FGs are pretty new and not heard of any brake shudder issues with them to my knowledge.

Anyway, you may want to get a second opinion (just like with the doctors) from a brake company in WA (think some of the guys here can point you to a reputable brake company out your way)? Here's a post I did about my experience with brake shudder. I am not saying your's is brake shudder, just that a second opinion may help you work out what is going on.

DO you have aftermarket rims.

If so sometimes tire companies dont put in a spacer (a plastic ring) between the hub and the centre of the rim which locates the wheel.

The wheel nuts dont locate the wheel perfect every time so they can run eccentric causing vibration. :roflmbo:

Don't know if this helps but was the cause on a mates Turbo with aftermarkets, and pretty sure its causing the vibration on my old XY.

[Mate

I would go back and ask to check the wheel balance sounds like dymanic balance issues if they didnot road test they should have spun the front wheels upto 100k to check or even a loose wheel nut maybe wheel is mot sitting flat on the disc
