Graybry

Have a read of the post properly.

If being a 'by the book' wowser is meant to be an insult then you are saying that about the majority of forum members, who are actually proud to be the majority. This includes being full of commonsense and having a bit of respect for others.

If you wouldn't like being stopped by VG, then you would absolutely hate being stopped by me!

I love my cars, am an active and keen enthusiast but I detest those that make changes and do things on the road that are illegal because they have the belief that the law doesn't apply to them.

You have offended more people than you realise!

I pitty any person who is unfortunate enough to be pulled over by you Velvet Glove. You are a "by the book" wowser and are the type of copper that gives other coppers a bad name. A XR6 Turbo is wasted on you.

I was thinking about some appropriate reply, but you only need to read the overwhelming tide of opinion backing people like myself and Plonky, and I dont need to. I'd also lay a million quid that if you were standing in front of me, like most of the smart arses we deal with, you wouldnt have the temerity to say what you have said through your keyboard. I suggest that an XR6 Turbo is right up my alley because I can:

a) afford it

B) will drive it at a level where I am highly unlikely to be wrapping it around a tree

c) feel no need to modify it as I appreciate that if a car is built a certain way, it is meant to be that way; and

d) cos I want one

If your idea of XR6T perfection is ripping out the centre muffler, modifying it up the hoo ha and then hurtling everywhere at mach 3 then geez, I guess u got me, it is wasted on me

Nice try for the bite buddy, no-one likes a smart arse. Take a big, deep breath and read the thread.

But as Austin Powers would say 'oh, honestlllyyyy !!'

I feel some of the comments on this thread have gone way too far and are becoming way too personal.

Some of the comments above are breaking our forum rules.

"Disrespect towards other Members intentionally"

I understand people have their own views on police and other members of our community. But please dont make it personal.

Try and keep the forum fun and not some slagging match

If it continues the warning system will come into action, and members will be banned from the site.

What I never understand is the people who odify a car illegally and then complain about being busted. They don't even try to play within the 'spirit' of the rules.

I've modded cars in the past and carried a couple fo 'technical' defectable infringements on the cars - but have always passed roadside inspections (both by police and vehicle inspectors) becuase for the most part the car met the rules and where it didn't it was still 'close' enough that it at least looked like I knew what the rules were and had tried to follow them or gottem 'around' them by using some lateral thinking that was 'unconventional'.

My point is that if you want to change sound it's possible to do it by changing muffler types and flow characteristics and as long as you're legal for noise you can be legal on muffler and cat convertor count....

Same with intake mods - exposed pods are defectable - enclosed pods (like the XR8 unit) are legal... It's not hard to be legal and still get what you want.

Full props to Plonky and VG for doing their job and at the same time sharing with us their interpretations and knowledge.

Look guys,

I apologise for my comments and they were made without thinking. I just get hot under the collar with some of Velvet Glove's comments regarding modifications and their implications they are done just to break the law.
