I like the idea of air can suspension.

my questions are -

1. What is the ride quality and handling like with this setup?

2. Has anyone done it to a Falcon?

3. Any suppliers in Australia?

any ideas would be appreciated.

Chris

I have driven a C200 merc with it, ride quality was surprisingly good for how low it was stiff but subtle over smaller bumps. Handling was good in terms of stiffness and stability but not sure how it would feel in a corner on the limit. This particular set up had a controller and gauge for each wheel so you could have it as low or as high as you like.

The annoying part was the air compressor in the boot which would turn on when the pressure in the tanks ran low. Kinda embarrassing to drive around with the compressor going off in the boot but if you don't play with it too often I don't think it would turn on too often.

My mate got his late model Caprice done at DW customs few months back and I reckon its pretty good. The ride quality is the same, you can have it set to any ride hight you want, with I think by memory -3 settings and self adjusts too. At an extra cost you can have a hand controller about the size of a I-phone.

Last time I was there they were talking about a kit coming out for the BA-BF series, give them a ring im sure they answer any questions you need to know, there a good bunch of blokes.

Cheers,

I did some more research and found out that Boss Suspension in Qld do alot of air cylinder suspension setups (the DW customs website only list bellows setups). Sent them off an email and will post up the results. :nyaah:

Hi, BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE.......... There is air bag shops and there is airbag shops. I have witnessed first hand a certain shop in southern NSW that claims to be "the biggest air suspension shop in Australia". They are sh*t. Full stop. Can talk himself up, I'll give him that. But if the work was as good as he could talk....well it would certainly be a different story. A friend of mine had them do the airbag setup on his BA. Not good at all. The top arms had a grinder taken to them to clear the bags !!!!!!!!!!!! But if axle tramp and lots of problems is what rocks your world, then it may be a good choice. Not knocking the Boss stuff, just the shop that I saw fitted their stuff. So if you do go ahead with it, I would suggest a different shop. On the other hand, I have seen DW's work. QUALITY +++++++ Very good workl, unlike the other shop I previously hinted at. Like I said, I'm sure the Boss stuff is very good, just choose who fits it wisely..............

Enjoy.

My last car - a V8 Soarer had an airbag suspension as standard.

I fitted an aftermarket electronic height controller to it and could have it as high or low as I wanted.

Somewhere around 3 inches lower than standard gave me the best compromise between comfort & handling.

Sitting at it's lowest was the best looking, however the front tyres would scrub the guards when turning and going over the smallest bumps would be bone jarring.
