I know you can get good gains but 25-30kw gain is all I've heard of. You're talking about a 35% increase! I'm talking about VY, earlier models is a bit different. Most VY's dyno at around 185rwkw from the factory, and with an edit most will get somewhere around 225rwkw. Most LS1 people take 225rwkw as 300fwkw as the GTS normally dynoes around 220-225rwkw and that is supposed to be 300fwkw. But a lot assume HSV actually understate the GTS power.Admittedly most people put a cat back exhaust on to get to these figures, and maybe headers as well, but also people have got these figures with standard exhausts as well. Of course every car varies, some might only end up with 210rwkw but there is one LS1 that is getting 256rwkw with just bolt ons (exhaust, air) + tuning.HSV could easily get 300kw from the machines, but for whatever reason they don't. Note the HSV VYII is 285kw and the only changes are different headers, larger exhaust, cold air + different tune. With Commodores, an accepted method of translating rwkw to fwkw is rwkw * 2.85 / 2. If you use this then the average VY is actually 263fwkw from the factory, and 225rwkw is 320fwkw.I tend to just go off rwkw, as fwkw is a subjective thing, and easy to fudge figures, whereas rwkw tells the real story! This in itself says a lot about what other tuners globally believe to be the best approach to finding an optimum state of engine tune. That’s not to say reprogramming the stock ECU does not have a place in the whole scheme; it obviously does. What the Unichip provides is instant, live real time tuning. – Adjustments to ignition and air / fuel ratio, live, to achieve the best possible torque and power across the entire RPM range, under all load conditions (throttle positions). In addition, as the Unichip approach is approximately 10 times faster than reprogramming the stock ECU (and deadly accurate), you spend far less time on the chassis dyno tuning. With the right equipment and an experienced operator, dyno tuning is not harsh on a car; but why spend more time with the engine under load than is necessary? - Food for thought. The Unichip can also control and map many other ancillary options such as NOS, additional injectors (up to 12), intercooler water spray, twin timing maps, variable cam control etc, so it’s much more advanced than many people understand. – Stock computers, even when reprogrammed, don’t cater for these options. There are many different approaches to engine tuning, - stand alone ECU’s, reprogramming standard ECU’s, replacement “chips” where possible, and interceptor style computers (Unichip). There are advantages and disadvantages for all. – Ultimately the Unichip has been proven over many years to be affordable, very tuneable and provides excellent gains in power.Peter

Money well spent in my book.Took rwkw from 191 to 223kw. Pretty good for just a chip and nothing else. The other beauty is that I can continue to update as funds allow and still use the same chip. MY grandmas Toyota echo does to 120 in second gear... no kidding. It not how fast it goes, but how fast it gets there. If you think the GT is fast, you should have driven the f6...Next time, start a new topic, dont post in one from 6 years ago...
