Its more of a shudder rumbling noise under acceleration. If you take it easy, you can barely notice it, but if you get up, its real obvious. Mine does it between 25-35km/h every time. My diff bushes are getting replaced (all three are gone) this week, so will see if that makes any difference.

It would be very hard to diagnose. I doubt Ford would be able to diagnose. Im going to ry a few things and see what happens.

diff bush changed. problem is worse.

Its now at a proper dealer who is virtually rebuilding the whole car. New diff, rear suspension bushes, balanced/realigned/replaced if stuffed tailshaft, and a mile of other things. All under warranty!

I get it back this week, and I cant wait to drive it! The mechanic promised that I wont get it back until the problem is gone. Top bloke.

UPDATE:

Looks as though its caused by a sagged centre bearing. A new entire tailshaft has been ordered and will be installed next week. This will fix the issue for sure. Thought I would update here for future reference.

Well... the new tailshaft made zero difference.

Upon futher investigation, Ford removed the gearbox to see if there were any issues there. They found one of the o2 sensor brackets had been incorrectly installed from the factory. This had caused the gearbox to sit slighty skewed off the engine, which in turn put the tailshaft out.

They took care of the bracket, bolted it all back up and the vibration is 98% gone. Still slightyl there under heavy acceleration, but totally acceptable. Only problem now is the new diff which is only 500 kms old is whining... uuurrrrgghhhh back to Ford.....
