Ahh, yeah when we pulled mine out I had all that still on - good job mate, pretty satisfying doing it all yourself :spoton:

yeah thanks pat it is satisfying doing it and saving on labour costs for someone else to do it just means I can get more goodies for the motor lol...

just wish I had a nice flat drive way to do it in lol..

little update been cleaning and polished all the steel water lines they come up like chrome was very suprised.. also polished the front of the turbo housing while it is off this time and it come up real good but took like 3-4 hours to do lol..

have also brought a new cat, new power steering pump, all new turbo studs and nuts, new turbo steel gaskets, new exhaust manifold bolts, new coil packs.

spoke to brad today from atomic and he has pulled the motor apart and it is in pretty good condition nothing is broken or bent the crank is in excellent condition, the head is fine no bent valves, the rods are fine, one of the pistons was a bit smaller he said I am guesing the rings he was talking about.. the head gasket had a few leaks he said but all in pretty good condition.. I am going down there tomorrow to have a look and go from there.. not looking as bad as first thought which is good sign..

well went and seen brad from atomic this morning and decided on what we are doing.. had a look at the head and pistons and all was great condition. the block was already in the acid bathso not much to look at there but was in great condition with no marks or anything in the bores so just going to use my block and keep the enigne number for the car..

well this what we have decided on doing

# 698kw rebuild kit - atomic rods, mahale pistons, acl reace bearings, nitro carburised rings, billet oil pump gears and housing modification, atomic girdle, atomic harmonic balancer, full atomic gasket kit, atomic head stud kit, full head recondition, new timing chain and guides... also going to put an ETM oil line on while I have easy access while the motor is out..

here is a pic of the head gasket and you can see it has delaminated around the cylinder holes..

and here is a picture of one of my pistons with a stronger F6 rod and on the left and a normal xr6 turbo rod and piston on the right which is also bent lol.. here you can see clearly the difference between the 2 rods.. the stronger typhoon/tornado/06-06 xr6 turbo rod is bugger all stronger or bigger just the side walls are a few mm's wider..
